The Goal for this skin was to create a full functional, yet far less place consuming replacement for the overloaded Fullmode Design.
Its based on Microsofts Revert Skin, which most closely resembles Fullmode. However, after real heavy rewritting, modifying, bugfixing, polishing & extending, there's just about nothing left of the original, except the major optical design. No unnecessary design fiddles. Just a plain useable, nevertheless good looking and high performing skin.
Main Features:
Tiny Memory Load! It outperforms Full Mode and even Winamp by far.
8 separate and resizable Views (each remembering Placement and Size, can be docked):
Master Playback (AlbumArt or Custom Picture! + PlaybackSpeed + Views toggle + etc.) Playlist (toggle Columns for sorting etc ...) Video (Colorsettings + Fullscreen) Visualization (Display Name + next/previous + Fullscreen) Equalizer (Equalizer + Presets + Balance) Equalizer Enhanced (Cross Fade, Normalization, Enhanced ..) Fully editable Lyrics! (with built in Lyrics Search via Google) Info & Color (Full color spectrum control over the Skin)
For Programmers: I dare to call the source a reference. Whatever you need, you can be sure i've atleast touched about every topic implementable in a WMP skin. And done it proper too. - Update 1.02: Made the Color Sliders "international" squeezed the file size a little more
You've done all that work and you've uploaded this for us to test? it's a shame that the graphics suffer so much with this... Work on some eyecandy/original graphics because in the end that is truly what will get someone to try your work, it wont matter what your source code looks like or whats on the backend etc.
Really, no. I did this (3 years ago) for myself. No other skin at that time (and since then nothing has changed) does what and how i want it.
As it seems the Lyric save problem has been fixed in Version 10, so theres no reason to deal with the even worse winamp anymore.
Using Media Player implies dealing with its interface ... no way around that.
For flashy eyecandy and *cough* original brushed up skins look elsewhere. Yes, I would have prefered to combine the functionality with it, but ... that would have meant rewriting ... itunes, instead of extending Media Player.
I have found that Revert Superior has been the skin I use the Most with wmp. While others have been okay for maybe a week before changing out, this one is usable on a continuous basis. Bells and whistles are great but, these skins that have no thought to amount of desktop real-estate or readability. This is one of the best for wMediaPlayer I've seen, hands down. Don't get me wrong, I like bells and whistles but, when I'm done playing with the 'wild stuff' I just want something that works and looks nice. ~Myr
