Artist's Note

I don't know what to say about this. It's my first real foray into advanced lighting, and I've been working on improving it ever since I was first exposed to good 3D impressionism (at least that's what I call it) by colossus72. Inspired, in a roundabout way, by one of my favorite buildings in Washington. It's meant to be an idyllic sunrise-type setting, with a somewhat 'cold' feel to it. That's what I guess, anyhow. Easy to colorize, easy to work with. I'm working on other times of day, at least in part.

The zip contains two widescreen resolutions and two normal resolutions (1280x1024, 1600x1200, 1440x900, and 1920x1200). Additional resolutions can be easily worked out.

Yes, I know you can't really 'port' a wallpaper, but matching applications are always nice.

Great rendering. Very smooth. I'de love to see this in other colors.

really nice render and lighting. this would be awsome if you included and egg shell white version set off against a 'perfect' blue sky behind the pillars, or a orange sunset. still really nice - cool flintsilver, looking forward to them :)

liqachu: I'm actually working on both of those. There are a few other color combinations I have in mind. fate: Probably some of that is the ambient lighting. There isn't any attenuation on the sunlight. Also, the floor is a different material (slightly reflective) which might make it a little darker.

I've caught this bug too. Nice modeling and lighting. The only thing that that seems a little odd is that the sunlight seems to have attenuation or it becomes less intensified over distance (polls seem brighter then the floor). This may also be caused by your placement of ambient lights not necessarily your attenuation settings. Other then the polls, it looks great. Maybe playing around w/ the exposure settings might help w/ your contrast. I'm sure the colossus can give you some better pointers. Keep it up man.

Lovely render, but more detail into the pillars would be great so they match more realisticly with the rest :)
