Artist's Note
This is my first attempt at a wallpaper. I know that it could use a lot of work and I'm somewhat of a novice with graphics, so just let me know what you think.
I made the glassy thing on the left with 3dsmax and the rest in fireworks

Glassy thing = cool, Weird faded lightning bolts = not-so-good. Lot of potential if you work more with the slightly organic shape and texture of the object rather that filling the space with the bolts. All in all, pretty good for a first attempt :)

please, do everyone a favor and take the 1010101s out. PLEASE! Cliche.... and so is the thunder.
I really do like the main object, very nice. You don't have to fill that space with anything at all. Make it just black if you want. Something else you could consider is filling it with a gradient or some repeating pixel pattern. Lots of possibilities.
But yea keep it simple.
