Artist's Note
Well, everyone else was doing one, and I've totally never been good at dealing with peer pressure.
So, here we are. A couple hours later.

ya know, i really like this. for only a few hours working on this, you did an excellent job of creating a coherent desert/saharan theme and all the tiny touches from the sun to the birds to the quasi-elephantine turtle-beast are duly noted and appreciated. c72cntst caliber indeed.

Reminds me of Paulo Coelho's: 'The Alchemist'. Right on point for the contest ;)

the overall composition is just awesome, the shadows are superb, although I'll have to agree with Imrik about the sun, those effects don't do it for me, but neither the less this wall just rocks.

The light in the upper right looks too much like a lens flare, and im afraid this totally wrecks the whole picture. The sun pulls off the effect well enough with the patterns. Take out the "lens flare" (its a simulated lens flare, not the filter it seems), and maybe add some blues or light purples/lavender and it would be perfect

the "lens flare" effect (doesnt really even look like a lens flare) is what makes this image for me. it's a very flat piece, but the illusion of light it gives off gives it quite a bit of depth. very nice work here.
