Looks great. I don't really like gradients, but I guess this would look pretty strange without em. Very reminiscent of extension's work, and that's a good thing :)

I would not worry about trying to colour this, probably just take away from it.
Perhaps try other characters besides English for your text like say a Slavic?? May add to its alien like feel.
Brilliant work, I will show it off on my Desk with pride!
