Not bad for a first. And you're right, shadow and reflection. My problem is the whole scene is too clear and static. The material on the island is too grainy looking. Also another cloud layer would be nifty. Anyway, bryce is fun ;-) and I hope to see more from you.

first one eh? not bad then...but why are there two shadows... and one is brown? the sand looks an mspaint job (actually.. paint isnt all that bad.. more like an 8bit game map).. smooth it out. Good job with the clouds

please dont submit straight bryce renders... they can never be good by themselves.... if you think otherwize.. link me to a good one

yeah but the shadow shouldnt be stretching all the way out like that- but regardless, i actually like your walls ive been looking through them & they're rather different- at least now, what 7 YEARS later- holy shit- anyway my only issue is the sizes are way way small to fit on my much larger screen (but, hell, in your defense, 7 yrs ago popular resolutions were way smaller than they are today :P)
