/me is not aware of a Phong rip here. Anyway, i wish the characters were a tad smaller and less conspicuous, and i like it but there IS something missing, it needs some more character. And i don't mean it need more characters! BTW i hope you didn't put them there cuz it's trendy but that you actually know what they stand for.

For a first effort, it's alright I spose. More effects are needed, try drawing or (shock horror) using a plugin in a non-obvious way.

Works awesome as a WP and as a fan of Japanese Characters, the "text" which is art, at the side is attractive, maybe put a slight glow on it, which would fit, and put a little bit more time into the rest of the bg, otherwise very nice
