Artist's Note
WHAMMO! Ok, a little explanation first.
The name. This is not sarcastic - I'm serious. When <insert-the-person-who-said-it-here> coined it on the discussion board, I just knew I had to use it in a screenshot. I talked about it with Pyro on IRC, and she helped me tweak it to sort of a compromise between our liking. There are a few things that I unfortunately had to drop though, I'll talk about that in a sec.
The color. First off. I am NOT a fan of red. I used to be. Not anymore. So this is not coming directly from my tastes, and this was something that took me a very long time to get comfortable with. But I think it turned out really nice, the mix of 2 warm colors, red, and very subtle orange.
The wallpaper. I asked Pyro if she knew of a good red wallpaper, but when she said negative, I decided I'd just use this one - Blast from the Past. I just love it for the simple, vector shapes and retro feeling. I know Pyro generally refers to fire, or flame, but I really liked this wallpaper and wanted to do something different.
The details. As I said earlier, Pyro helped me tweak most of the bbstyle - the borders, colors, and everything are her suggestions. Except for one thing. When we were discussing on IRC about fonts, she mentioned that Swis721 Cn BT was her favorite. Obviously this font is Corbel, NOT Swis721 Cn BT. A couple reasons for that. Firstly, Swis looked horrible in the window client area. I have cleartype on. I tried turning it off, tuning it, everything. The letters were too bunched together, too uncomfortable for me. Second, I don't really think it goes that well with tango. So sorry Pyro, but I just had to.
Also, the buttons. I first intended to use the decadence buttons but then when I decided on the sans-serif font, I thought the glyphs didn't really go well. So this is a remix of decadence, my own style, and a few other buttons.
Work In Progress. The reason for that is, when Pyro comes back, she'll probably have more suggestions for me, which is good. :)
Sidenotes. I just had to edit this in. Since my first screenshot, you have probably noticed my insane screen res. This is not on purpose, nor is it to my liking. I used to use 1280x1024 on my old 13" CRT monitor for years. Until, that is, this new computer with an LCD that only supports up to 1024x768. So it's either using my half-broken CRT with a really small screen, or my LCD with only 1024x768. ;_; So bare with me.
Edit: Sorry for the resub...apparently a glitch with WIP. Deleted old one, so there _shouldn't_ be any duplicates..
Edited screenshot:
- White startpage - Compact grj - Pyro'd quicknotes - Pyro'd mIRC - Active/inactive colors

FatCat... man. Just for using that wall you deserve +love, but everything in your screenshot yells FUN. Great work, if every *nix machine looked this nice, i'll use them constantly.

Ignoring the fact that I'm not a fan of icons, this is really, really nice. In fact ... the only thing I can see that would make it better would be to change the startpage's background to white, to match the other windows better. Excellent work, here.

Teehee. I'm famous too. :)
This turned out quite nice, and that font looks great with it. So eh. I seem to be the only one still in a passionate love affair with Swis721 Cn BT.
About the shot, the start page indeed should've matched the window color, and I never cared for WP's in the GRJ.
About the bbStyle, I wish the two buttons next to the icon were a couple more pixels away. And now having seen it all come together the inactive(?) window color should be the major one, and the menu and clock should be the same.
I never liked two different inactive and active colored windows though, so yeah. :)

GAH. With no edit button, I forgot to mention, I actually read all your notes. And I like the caption buttons. I have used those too.

Haha, yeah I caught that.
Go with ultra minimal! Of course. Short listbox, and "Toodles" button. ;P
Err, the Firefox window appears to be an "Active" window, and the rest appear to be "Inactive" I think the inactive windowlabel color is better. And should also be the clock's label.
Erm. Can't move the pin in the image in buttons.bmp a pixel or two to the right?

I dig. Only thing that irks me is the start page. Change that blue to an off white or matching white and you're set =)
