Thinker says:

I like your overall artsy style. It definitely has potential. I also like that GRJ.

Attempt at Constructive Criticism:
1. You probably already know this, but those icons in the caption bars and menus throw-off the overall shot.
2. The background texture in explorer could match a little better with the rest of the shot (i.e. Miranda bg, et cetera).
3. The Miranda caption bar could better match the other caption bars/windows. Not sure how to do that one right now.
4. The semi-transparent clock is a bit strange. It would fit better if it was solid.
5. Perhaps a better matching wall, though I don't really have any suggestions on that.

I am by no means a pro (not even close) and you probably already see these problems. I apologize if these problems are actually intentional, just take what I said as a difference in taste. Just trying to help from telling you what I see in my prospective. Again, I think it has potential to go far beyond this.

thanks guys for the comments and the likes :)

@thinker: thanks for your criticism it is appreciated. regarding the miranda, I actually forgot to include it in the shot so I'm not sure what you are mistaking for a miranda window.
regarding the icons, i know :( I cant figure out how to blank the notepad icon w/o making notepad documents blank in explorer windows. I'm having trouble reshacking xnview so those icons i couldnt get rid of either

thanks again guys :)

Excuse me, I meant to say Litestep pop-up :-\ I should have looked more closely (didn't have my contacts in). Ignore that comment about the Miranda then. I guess the pop-up should just match the explorer bg, et cetera.

CC: The only thing I'd get rid off if I were using this, is the gradient on top of the caption bars, well but thats cos I like flat stuff. To each his own :)

I think the only things that really irk me are the font and the icons in the corner of the menus. But that's about it. Pretty nice shot.

what kind of fonts do you guys like? I am tired of Kroeger and the likes, they are nice but they make my eyes hurt because they are so small

Kroeger is very annoying to me too >.< I dunno, depends on your own personal usage and likes, but I have a lot of financial stuff to read so I prefer 'normal' fonts, yes, even Arial, makes my life much easier :3

Like I said on GSM, I love the mod of Untitled. But the clock and the default icons kill it for me. Otherwise looks quite nice.

hi sunmoonstar-

-to start, i love the color palette- it is what initially drew me in

-not to dig it in more, but i agree with Thinker (and Pyro, & others- including yourself!) regarding, yes, the icons- as Pyro said "[they] kill it for me" -
especially the XNView(?) ones - this is a huge distraction- but, as you've stated, you already know this :)

-however, i don't agree with Thinker about the wall- i think the wall looks great and you did a good job of selecting one that plays off of the, well, stye and tone of the VS nicely

-also, it seems you answered your own question regarding the clock (>o<) and i happen to agree with you- there is a lot of empty space surrounding the actual time- i would not only shrink the frame to fit closer to the displayed time, but also then shrink the whole thing down even more after that. (also- i don;t have a problem w/the transparency of the clock as others have mentioned- i think that maybe the size of the clock combined w/ the transparancy wasn't working but once scaled down shouldn't be a problem)
-I happen to love the title bars- they have a nice sort of glossed-sheen to them, but still remain soft and simple- they aren't overly glossy and bubble-y- you know what i mean?

-lastly, (promise)- the font doesn't really bother me much- im sort of back & forth with it- because i get why you went for the italicized font- (aside from the fact that it is an original choice - which i applaud), italic fonts, such as the one seen here, have that little touch of elegance- just a little- they certainly aren't a prissy whirly script (although many scripts are also oblique) they just add that little bit of formality to an otherwise standard, regular font- and that touch of elegance or formality also plays off of the overall look of the screenshot- so it makes sense to have chosen it- but maybe try a serif font- they also have a little bit of a more formal, elegant look- some a little more so than others. Try a few out and see how that works.

Great Job! =^._.^=
