a good start, but there are some things that ego and pyro said that you can experiment with to get a more matching & minimalistic setup.
also, you can use icontweaker if you would like to change the default folders to n.un folders.
try it out.

you dont need to reshack miranda to get rid of icons, all you need is a blank .ico and everything else you can do from the settings.
yep, practice is all there is to it ;).
another tip is to check out zeed image viewer, it's easier to modify than the windows built-in version imo.

i have iphile for the icons, and as far as I know i've changed the folder icons, but they're not showing up properly.
as far as reshacking goes, i tried the simplest thing (reshacking notepad) and didn't manage to make that work, so i need to read up on it more before i go messing around too much.
i *did* reshack parts of miranda, to get rid of some icons and such, but other than that i'm still pretty new to most of it. i'll learn, and hopefully the next shot will be better ;) thanks for the comments!
