This is my very stable customized work laptop running windows xp. I use only lightweight customizations since it's a 1ghz 1gbyte RAM laptop. I've had 30+ days uptime using hibernate. Lotus Notes, grrr, is the only thing that seems to crash it. Explorer crashes maybe 2x a year. I've had over 30 programs running at once using the virt-dimension desktop pager. I recommend highly.
Breakdown: --------------------------- windows xp themes service turned off (performance better) 3dcc greenish blue theme from 3Dcc Color Pack v1.0 gkrellm monitor with 4D_Ladies theme Virtual Dimension Pager (http://virt-dimension.sourceforge.net/) Start Menu auto-hide No Desktop Icons (I use Start->Run ONLY, actually WIN+R shortcut ONLY) Desktop Bg is Keyboard_by_derfs from deviant art Cywgin rxvt terminal emulators - bash - some backgrounds from Eterm - Angelina Jolie and Fireangel terminal bg's from Deviant Art - tixus font (converted from linux pcf.gz font to .fon)
I wrote a visual basic script that selects a terminal background at random and starts rxvt with it. One can also specify terminal backgroud explicitly.
I hate cmd.exe, so I use bash from cygwin with my customized rxvt script.
This is my first submission. Thanks to this site for some inspirations.
yeah, caption buttons are big. makes it real easy to click'em. I hate having to be super precise just to close a window. not a popular look, but i like.
Yeah, I use Linux when I can. Work makes me use windows on this comp. I do run cygwin and colinux for stuff, too.
