LogonStudio Help
How To Create Logon Studio Skins
ok im going to go through this step by step, if you find a better way of doing something feel free to edit the guide! im just qriting a quick guide because no one else has. this tutorial was made using logon studio XP availiable from www.stardock.com
Tip: SAVE CONSTANTLY BECAUSE IF YOU DO SOMETHING THE PROOGRAM DOESNT LIKE IT WILL CRASH AND PROGRESS WILL BE LOST!!
1st open logon studio and click new
a box will pop up saying title, author, email, website, version, revision and notes.
fill this out however you want
now click create!
now it will pop up with a preveiw of the default windows xp logon. we are just going to work down the list on the right hand side.
note: all pictures must be bitmap (.bmp) if you dont know how to convert right click on the picture you want then select edit, it should pop up in paint now click save as then below the name click on the drop down box that will most likely say JPEG .JPEG blah blah, now select 24-bit map image .BMP
the 1st option is panels>top pannel
once clicked the pannel below the one we were just looking at will change. the options will be:
Picture: click on the little box with “…” in it and a box will pop up. check the “use picture” box then click browse (if you want to use an existing picture) or edit (if you want to make one in paint) this will be the picture used in the top bar. if you dont want to use one you dont have to and can change the coulours using first colour and last colour etc.
Mask colour: i still havnt figured out what this does so probably best to leave it
First Colour: when you select a colour it will appear on the left hand side of the bar and fade to the last coulour selected (default blue)
Last Colour: will appear on the right hand side of the bar and fade to the first colour
style: this can change the picture in the top bar to stretched or tiled, i prefer stretched but usually hide the bars altogether (read on)
height: this determines the width of the bar (i know it says height but i rekon it should be width) make sure you dont make the value to large or too small, i dont know if this will happen with yours but with mine it crashes. so when editting dont delete all the numbers in the box or change to “0” or like i did “1080” cause its just too big
Visability: this is a drop down box, select true if you want to see the top pannel or false if you dont want to see it at all (i prefer to remove at least 1)
now the center pannel
this is pretty much the same as the last one except there are a few more options.
style: these are pretty obvious if selecting “6) stretched” this will take up the whole screen and the values you type below wont effect the picture
pic height: type a value to set the height of the picture, to make the picture full on my screen it is 1250×900 (900 being pic length)
pic length: type a value to set the length of the picture, to make the picture full on my screen it is 900×1250 (1250 being pic height)
logo picture: this will change the picture above the welcome message (default windows logo)
logon welcom/picture position: click the “…” box and you can choose 1 of 9 positions for the welcome message and picture to be displayed
the bottom pannel is exactly the same as the top pannel so if you cant remember what to do go over the 1st section of instructions
the next thing we are going to do is messages
the options are pretty much all the same except the welcome message and the logon notice.
i will be using “welcome” as an example. as far as i know you cant preveiw the welcome so you wont notice the effect you create until you use it. this will appear after you have selected ur user and you are logging in.
Caption: type what you want to be displayed here eg. Extasey is awsome
colour: select the colour of the text
font: select the font of the text
shadow colour: the welcome has a shadow, select the colour you want that shadow to be
if you leave the captions blank nothing will happen except the “notice” option as the program will automatically place something in there. i think it is “created using stardock® logon studio © blah blah” to overcome this i put a full stop in there ( . ) and change it to the coulour of the background.
onto buttons!
these are simple as all you have to do is select the bitmap image you want to use! if you made your own and screwed up abit it doesnt matter because they are fairly small and you probably wont notice and small mistakes.
now we are onto the scroll bar.
when you have more then 3 accounts (i think) they will appear in a scroll box, you can change the pictures of the body of this and the arrows (up and down) in this option
finally we are onto the user options. there is only one set of otipons in this sub-heading and they are:
account:
back colour:
Pannelwidth:
frame picture:
Alpha Normal: this is the overall size of the username when the mouse is not on it and it is not selected
Alpha Mouse over: this is the size that the username will change too when the wouse is over it
Alpha Selected: this is the size the username will be when it has been selected
congratualtions! your done!
any questions feel free to message me my account name is extasey, if you cant get to that directly search for a logon skin called burton.
