How to do things properly

  • Don’t claim other people’s work as your own. “Ripping” is about the worst thing you can do here. I don’t think any explanation is necessary.
  • Ask permission before altering someone else’s work and displaying if permission wasn’t granted with the original work. Respect the requests of folks who don’t want their work altered.
    • If you’ve used some one’s skin as a base for making your own and you’ve changed every thing you possibly can on there, and all coding/images from the original no longer exist you may submit it.
  • Don’t use an image editor on your screenshots. When you’re using an image editor to alter how the OS originally rendered the shell, icons, apps, whatever, it’s making it look like you have skills you don’t have. If everyone did this what would be the point? It becomes nothing more than a mockup, not a representation of your desktop environment.
  • Don’t create more than one account simply to “love” or even “like” or to even add comments ect. to draw people to your own work(s). If what you submit is of quality, it will see proper time on the front page, this also means you do not need to “love” or “like” your own work.
  • Don’t upload ridiculous stuff. If you’ve come here and want to share what you’ve created, make sure it is of good quality. Take a quick look around, see how things are done here. Then discern if you’re ready to show what you’ve done.
  • If you’re making a wallpaper and uploading it here for the usage of others please be considerate and make multiple resolutions so people can actually use it. [Best maximum resolutions: Standard – 2048 × 1536 pixels / Widescreen – 2560 × 1600 pixels]
  • When submitting a screen shot actually read through the submission process, it’s not difficult. And will ensure you actually put in some notes as to what skins you’re using, it’s suggested you put “ingredients” to include links to the skins you’re using as well.

What it boils down to is respecting other people here. Choosing not to practice the simple guidelines outlined above is tantamount to spitting in the face of those that DO take the time to follow community guidelines, and manage to conduct themselves in a manner that is with honesty and integrity.

And remember most of the people here have been here for years and love this website and the community more than you can understand as a new person, and having a little respect for how things are done here is important.
