Favorite Super Nintendo Games?
|
Allright, I'm making a list of good games that are on the SNES console. Basically, I'm curious as to what games on this console ONLY were well enjoyed by people. Here's what I've got so far:
**7th Saga, The Genre: RPG
Chrono Trigger Genre: RPG
Breath of Fire I Genre: RPG
Breath of Fire II Genre: RPG
Demon's Crest Genre: Side-Scrolling Platformer
Doctor Mario: Genre: Puzzle
Dragon View Genre: Side-Scrolling Action/RPG
Earthbound Genre: RPG
Final Fantasy 6 Genre: RPG
Knights of the Round Genre: Side-Scrolling Beat-em-up
Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past Genre: Adventure
Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinistrals Genre: RPG
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers(unsure this is the title) Genre: Side-Scrolling Platformer
Mortal Kombat 3 Genre: Fighting
Secret of Evermore Genre: Action/RPG
Secret of Mana Genre: Action/RPG
Seiken Densetsu 3 Genre: Action/RPG
**Shadowrun Genre: RPG
*Super Castlevania IV Genre: Side-Scrolling Platformer
*Super Double Dragon Genre: Side-Scrolling Beat-em-up
Super Mario World Genre: Side-Scrolling Platformer
Super Mario RPG Genre: RPG
Super Metroid Genre: Side-Scrolling Platformer
X-Men: Mutant Apocolypse Genre: Side-Scrolling Platformer
*Recommendations from others. **Not much experience with.
So if you'd like to make an addition to this list, feel free to, just write a small description of it as well as the little format dealy I've got of Title and Genre.
I'd like to keep this fairly straightforward, but I know how often people enjoy derailing a thread, so please refrain from posting unless you have actual input.

I really liked the Castlevanias that came out for SNES. I think it's Castlevania IV and Dracula X or something. They were both tight.

F-ZERO was the earliest non-Mario SNES game I remember.
Of the series I liked R-Type 3.
SMBW2 was headache-inducing but interesting.

The version of Dracula X on the snes is probably one of the lower points of the series.
As far as the list goes, check out Assault Suits Valken, that's Cybernator for the english speakers/less pretentious. It's a side scrolling action platformer, among other things. Brought to you by your pals and mine at Konami, it's a nicely done romp through space and things more terrestrial. Of note is the solid/versatile controls - the way your Assault Suit animates, specially during things like jump recovery, is nicely done, especially for the snes.
It's worth looking into.
There are other games that should be on this list.

I killed a lot of time with Actraiser 2, Alien 3, Cybernator, Mortal Kombat 3 and Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel. I probably would pick Actraiser 2 as the best.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV Turtles in Time
The multiplayer co-op in this game rocked hardcore. So did all the levels. and the goofy faces your turtle would make when he would get shocked by something.

Gotta love Mario Paint. It was good photoshop training. Don't leave out the Rare ( the production company) games. They were just starting to get into their prime during the SNES era.
