watching the mtv music awards, i couldn't help but leave the room in disgust. the live performances were terrible. rappers trying to duplicate what sold millions of records for them. they sound okay, kinda catchy only when they are on the cd. proof that they are talentless bums with millions of dollars in recording equipment backing them up, chopping up their music making it sound listenable.
everyone going ape shit about n'sync and the backstreet boys. most of the major selling artists out there aren't even writing their own songs. written by producers who pick out generic looking plastic people to sing their songs and be pretty. most of the songs aren't even worth listening to. if it has a good beat it doesn't matter if the songs are "will you sleep with me tonight? i just dumped ma man cause he ain't got the cash" .. wait, most of the songs are about that crap anyway.
i'd be suprised if the bands out there could sell as many albums as they do if they didn't have a bunch of dolled up whores with fake lips, boobs, asses and god knows what else pressed up against the video camera. setting great examples for the thirteen year old girls who set todays music trends.
how can the half dressed plastic people get up on stage and accept an award during a show that costs MILLIONS to put on? knowing that there are police officers, fire fighters, ambulance drivers - people who save lives and try to make a difference are fighting with debt. countless people around the world starving to death while these 'stars' flaunting their 'bling' and rolling in orgies of drugs and fucking to get 'their' music heard. oh wait - i think n'sync donated $1 - that's ONE DOLLAR of everyone on of their $99 - that's NINE TEE NINE dollar tickets for one of their concerts, to the september 11th terrorist attack. i guess these people aren't as disgusting and depraved as i thought they were.
QUICK! turn on mtv, turn on much music, turn on bpm, turn on vibe, turn on much more music - what do you see? wait, i can tell you:
you see a factory produced video clip of half naked plastic people dancing to a monotonous hip-hop beat, while preformers 'sing' about how much money they have, how their baby ain't good enough and bumpin' at tha club.
please, for the sake of the planet - don't ever watch that shit, and make sure you never ever ever ever buy any cd by any band that doesn't have at LEAST some artistic merrit. you all have a computer - mp3's are free. down with the music industry - it's a scab.
I agree, the music industry can suck a big one cuz this is gettin to be some bs. Some of these rappers, not gonna mention specific names here, have about zero talent. Their songs are becoming or became popular because of 1.) their hired hoes to make video attractive or 2.) a decent beat that they had no part in creating, with the exception of a few guys, but I swear if you look at some of the naseating lyrics on here, you'd wonder if a four year old could be more creative. I believe theres a quick formula to creating a rap song. 1. include the usual sad intro "This is C-to the W, Winkies in the house YO"(for added creativeness throw in 5 or 6 more yo's before or after..) 2. make sure everyone knows ur "keepin it real" and of course mention "long beach" or "englewood" 3. talk about ur "homies", "weed", "40's", "bitches" and ur "switches" 5. fill in all the blanks with "baaaaaby" and a few "uuhs" 4. have someone with some talent to create a beat for you 6. hire some hoes to dance with you on the cadalac you rent for the video 7. give it to MTV, ur a millionaire
i pretend to care about the world when all i want is more publicity and more money. i sing about love and talk about how it isn't all about the money when the only reason i have a superstar girlfreind/boyfriend is because of my money oh and no i can't date a "little" person because that would be bad for my image. i am allways whining and complaing about how bad things are and how bad my life was because i am a rockstar, but look tomorow i can brag and boast about my gold, cars and bitch's because i now make rap. i change for the "fans" who buy all my stuff and work hard to earn cash to pay me.
(sorry to all the people who actualy make good music or actualy don't give a shit about what other people think and do whatever they want so they can please themself)

god i agree. i cant wait for the next trend to come around so that it can be forced down the throats of all the pre-teens in the world who are/want to be cool.
mtv is so pitiful. "heres whats cool, kids. now vote for it so you can watch carson daly spout out the top ten so you can regurgitate what you just learned from britney and nsync for the whole rest of the world."
the TRL generation obviously spells out the end of society as we know it - people dont watch that show for the music, obviously. THEY DONT EVEN PLAY THE WHOLE GOD DAMNED SONG. and they play them over and over and over again - surely people would get their fill. no, people watch it because music has become an excuse... a medium to communicate to teenagers what they should be buying, or hearing, or believing. ask these kids what the meaning is of what theyre listening to. go through the average 14 year old girl's cd collection -ask them what percentage of the names on the covers of those cds are the ones who wrote the songs on the inside. blank look. its all bullshit.
its even worse when you look at the hip-hop/rap-rock scene. save a few instances, such as 311 (one of the best, most creative bands still active - funny thing they dont get much airtime) and linkin park (who at least have something to say, even if not in the most original way) all these guys are out there TALKING ABOUT HOW COOL THEY ARE INTO A GODDAMNED MICROPHONE. its not about rebellion anymore. if i hear fred durst say 'limp bizkit style' with a fucking synth over it one more time i'm gonna fucking scream. and i could care less about jay-z's bling bling. its not about pouring your heart and soul into a song that others can find solace in as well - its about feeding your insecure little ego and tricking people into paying for it.

You people take this WAYYYyyy to seriously! Music hasn't destroyed anything so far! Anybody here remember Elvis? Me neither. But i know that when he started his music, he was perceived as the devil in person that will bring our god lovin' society into decadence. Some might say it did, but Elvis had nothing to do with it!
In case you haven't noticed, money rules the world. If something is gonna bring in customer's cash, it's gonna get done. Period! for now, generic music with skinny videos brings in money. Think they're gonna change that? no F*ckin way! And you wouldn't either if you were pushing the buttons!
So stop whining and until the worlds becomes a perfect place, just get Kazaa or Morpheus and get some MP3s. At least you'll be glad to know you haven't contributed to someone's Porches or multi-million retirement fund ! :-)
The problems with the music industry theses days is that no one is in it for music. Everyone seems to just want money and money and money. Very few singers seem to have any talent these days because whenever they perform, they use DAT. If you can't perform live, what the hell is the point of it? People come to your concerts to have a good time and to hear your voice live, not to hear your CD in a large arena instead of their car. The rap industry is the main culprit. For example, when Nelly first was popular, I went to his first concert and it was tite cause it was live. Then, I went to one of his concerts in NY with one of my friends because I was in town and visiting him. We go, and I'm listening and it sounds perfect and Nelly was moving around hella fast, but you could tell that he wasn't singing and we left cause we could hear the same thing in his car. But the rock industry is still off the hook. I just went to the Incubus concert in Tacoma and it was worth every penny. I also went to the Vans concert series and it was soooo tite. One of my favorites that I went to this year was End Fest. Shittttttttt. Well, anyways, that is my little bitching section about the music industry and that is how my opinion stands (not that anyone cares).
true. i've never felt badly about d/l'ing some new, mainstream music that only has the one good song they play on the radio 40 times a day. i've been on a personal quest to find music that has talent... something different from artists that don't get alot of exposure. i do take advantage of kazaa and all those other progs to try out new bands (obviously, the more obscure, the harder the find, but not impossible) and then buy the cd.
yes, i do actually buy the cd.
and all i kept thinking about when i was reading the previous posts.. kid rock. man, i hate that guy. same crappy music, and he has the queen of all plastic parts hanging on him now. and that man is BUTT ASS UGLY. but hey, he's got lots of cash!! phonies.
cooper, i do the same. That mainly cause im on a 56k and i dont have time or mopney to dload every album, besides, its kinda more 1337er to have a huge collection of original cds than no cd collection at all or a huge collection of burned ones.
And i found lots of cool music on this thingy called launchcast. www.launch.com
streams lots of different shit, but they were better before. Got bought by yahoo a month ago and got a little worse. Just dload the essentials, and set all genres you dont wanna hear to X rating. Then just X rated any song you dont like, youll heard your fav music, while occasionally stumbling into many cool underaprreciated artists
