i tried using active desktop and some css code to generate a small text box on my desktop. however, using active desktop precludes having transparent icon backgrounds on teh desktop. IS there a good, small program that can do this with a reasonable memory footprint?

is there an easy way to take an html+css doc and turn it into a little executable?

Why don't you just use an Active Desktop "window" that doesn't take up the entire desktop?

The answer to your second question: no.

Well, I'll be darned. I swear it worked for me before.

Have you tried using a utility like TClock2 to make the icon text backgrounds transparent?

Make the icons part of your html+css doc?
(By using the run protocol handler)

I dunno, but when I was using an html/css active desktop I didn't have a need for icons anymore.
