LiteStep Problems
|
Well here I am trying to mod Aero's tilt and I see that the damned font isn't working. I have installed it and everything and checked the theme.rc, but no, it's not working. Can someoen please help me? =) thank you in advance.

Are you sure you installed the font correctly?

I guess I just dragged it into the font folder.

That's pretty much the proper way to do it in XP. I'm not sure if you've tried this yet, but restart your computer.
The theme works fine for me, but I'm basically tossing ideas out of my head as I think of them.

Thanks. I've tried rebooting, but maybe I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling litestep. I appreciate your help advent.

I wouldn't do that. Just try it again. In explorer, get to your litestep themes folder and find tilt\\misc\\. Click on the font and go to 'Copy To', then select your windows font folder. I dunno, you said that you dragged it to your font folder but if you had it would work fine. So try this.

If you're still having trouble you can make a theme.ini file in the themes directory, then zip it up and rename it .lsz that will install the font for you, which is what aero should have done in the the first place. Anyway, yeah, make a file called theme.ini with this in it:
[Install] Font="misc\SWISSCCAPS.ttf" FontName="Swiss 721 Condensed BT Caps (TrueType)"
Then reinstall the theme and the font will install itself. OTS2 is fancy like that.

Just a note:
If you don't have superuser privileges (required to install fonts) you could make a theme use lsfonts-0.1 to have the font(s) load at runtime.

What do you mean by use lsfonts-0.1?

you got to make sure that the font name corrosponds to the actual name in the ttf file. for example say you renamed the ttf file from comic sans to neverusethisfont.ttf then referenced to neverusethisfont.ttf it wouldnt work as the information in the ttf file says it is comic sans. So double click the ttf and find out what it really is called and reference that. If the problem is with label.dll then you may need to wack some of those """" around the name of the font. I had this problem trying to use a certain weight of helvetica.

copy the font to windows\fonts and be sure it aint installed yet. it should install the font now. i always doubleclick the font file to make sure it works

Potentially patronising but Aero has cleartype enabled in his screenshots. Make sure you do too. If you're like me then the font will have installed, but I had to turn off the popup alpha fadein to get cleartype to work on the popup......
