I'm going to assume you tried these things, but I'll mention them anyways:

Did you go into the BIOS and set the cd-rom as the first boot device?

Are you using an IBM OEM ver of XP or retail or is it something....else?

Is this a used machine, maybe you got a clunker.

whats a clunker?
i can find the satting that make cd-rom first boot device. i looked for it but i cant find it.
bios is strage.never seen something like this before

By clunker I think he means a old machine that doesn't work well.

clunker=bad machine.

Just make sure the cdrom is the first boot device, cruise around in the BIOS until you you see "boot device order" or something similar, should be under that.

Different systems can vary, but try pressing F8, F2, CTRL-ALT-DEl, or others when your box (machine) is booting up, it will get you into BIOS
