If u had the choice between these two cars, brand new, and enjoy modding loads which would be you preferred car? Outta these two, so please don't go recommending other cars. ^.-
it depends what type of sports car you prefer - if you like the lancer evo style, you go with skyline, if you like 'small and stylish', then you go with 350z.. i'd take the 350z track version if i were you. oh, and i've found a german website offering some modifications, some of them are really nice... /www.ctd-germany.com As for the blueprints - haven't seen them
ive got an evo so ill obviously say skyline. but thats seems like quite a difference in price isnt it? anyway i guess youre not from the states looking at the '.au' so take advantage of that and by the skyline.
being in the US id haave to say the skyline. its more my style in the first place, but also just the novelty of having one in the US would be pretty awesome.
it takes a big man to cry, but an even bigger man to laugh at that man.
even tho would probably be too much power for me to handle on a daily basis, i would have to say the skyline, any year would do really. never really heard much about the 350z and how much power it has except for the article i read about the stillen s/c
:: Negative, I am a meat popsicle. :: ++ Got Google? ++
an inline 4 that is twin turbo'ed is producing the same power as a v6 engine.
amazingly enough, this may sound silly and people might say "why would I want all the work done to a 4 banger when a v6 produces it without all that extra stuff"
think of it this way ... the twin turbo can easily be modified and upgraded and the r34 can easily top over 600hp.
the 350z is a sports coupe. the skyline is an agressive street car.
and besides, not many people in the states have a skyline r34 .... and the fact that you are one of the few that drive on the right side of the car. :)
theres so many reasons you can go back and forth with for each car, but i, personally, don't like the 350z at all ... but love skyline to pieces. :) +++ rkenshin +++
since when can you tt a 4 cyl? i saw the spec sheet on the r34, and indeed it is tt, but i thought 4 cyl. (atleast vertical 4's, or v4's) cars only had one exhaust manifold... maybe i'm wrong.
The R34 is a 2.5L I-6 engine, not a four cylinder. The last extremely fast four cylinder was the Lotus Esprit, which now has a V8. The Impreza WRX and Lancer Evolution are also very fast four cylinders.
WTF? There's plenty of fast 4 cylinders. Check out the Vauxhall VX220 turbo, or Lotus Elise. Or Mini Cooper S, or Integra Type R, or Focus RS, shit, the list goes on and on.
Bah, screw Skylines, go with a Merc. Can't go wrong with a Merc, get a second hand C43 AMG, or if you're rich, any new AMG. It'll impress the your buddies, any girls AND their moms.
I guess I misread the information about it when it said the Valvetrain was 4 cylinders ... which means its an Inline 6 with 24 valves (4 valves per cylinder).
Funny, because I was thinking the same thing after I posted that (and then left for work today) ... thinking "Wait, you can't fucking Twin Turbo a 4 banger, you only have one exhuast port".
^ stupid ^
Anyways, I'd still take one. :) Now, if only I had that amount of money to buy one, import it, and do the US conversions.
Heh, the JGTC Supra is pretty fast, it's a 4-banger too. Twin-turbo too if I'm not mistaken. Go check it out.
Well, since the guy is askin' about 350Z's, a Type R is respectable compared to it. I wouldn't classify the 350Z as "fast" either, the Koenigsegg is fast, or Maserati MC12.
just for your info, a 4 cyl. WRX STi or Lancer EVO will run dead even with a 2003 Mustang Cobra or new 'Vette up to 60 mph from a stop (both cars are V8's with 390 hp/f-lbs of torque[i think]). after that of course the v8's top end kicks in, but still, i think i would sell my muscle car if that happened...
if you put enough work into it you actually could make a twin turbo 4 banger, it would be totally custom tho. i wouldnt see the point in making even the inline 6 a twin turbo, its usually better if you just put one big turbo instead of two regular sized turbos. i think rkenshin was trying to explain the signifigance of the inline 6.

I used to have a video on my computer of a Dodge Neon blowing away a Viper in the quarter. Considering Vipers run around mid-12's from the factory, that's pretty impressive.
skyline all the way think about it, the skyline has 4 whell steering, alll wheel drive, and a twin turbo inline 6, it has so much more potential, looks cooler too.
oh ya and i think that the skyline is worth it to import, very original, and because it can smoke all those posers with civics,neons,mustangs,vettes.......
Skylines(BNR34 in this case) are just way too played because of all the retards trying to get in on the import scene. But the Nissan Z32(350Z) would be my pick. It's very practial with some sexy curves. But if you were to read about it, the Infinity G35 for the United States is the R35 Nissan Skyline elsewhere. But back to the question, I would choose the 350Z.
OOops, the JGTC Supra isn't a 4-banger, I'm POSITIVE it used to use the 3S-GTE engine from the Celica before, but regardless, it ain't no inline 6 either, as someone said earlier, but a V8 now.
STILL, just because an engine has 4 cylinders, it isn't CRAP. Look at the Celicas in the GT300 series in JGTC, they're 4 bangers, don't tell me they suck. Or ANY WRC car.

i know for a fact that skylines can smoke vettes, i saw a video shot from california, guy just got his skyline imported, not even street legal,no mods,in a parking lot racing some guy with a vette and another with a mustang, he killed them after he wound up the turbo he shot right by
real racing involves turns. a 1/4 mile proves very little. the Go-ped demonstrates this.

The Esso Toyota Supra JGTC is the 3UZ-FE(4.3L V8), same motor in the Lexus SC430. The Cerumo Celica(GT300 class) runs the 3S-GTE(2.0L Turbo), which is capable of making over700Hp.The Top Secret Widebody Supra has puched their 2.0 to a 2.2L and a large single turbo.
But if you guys are talking about top speed, then you'd have to go with the VielSide Drag Skyline. It holds a road(yes paved) record for going over 215Mph on a cracked up New Zeland road. Only way it can do this is with 1300+Hp.
Stllen actually has a supercharger kit for the 350Z, topped out at 405Hp i think... but thats if you want to spend the $6K for the kit, minus the intercooler
based on the information im finding, the skyline gt-r is pushing 276 bhp and the corvette z06 405. the corvette also weighs less and has a 1.3 second advantage in the 0-60. the corvette is also much cheaper. granted the skylines AWD system would make it much better around a track, but in a straight line it should get smoked. mustangs don't matter.
id still take the skyline over the vettte if it were free since its roughly twice as awesome.
it takes a big man to cry, but an even bigger man to laugh at that man.
Out of the two choices, I'd say Skyline for it's uniqueness, the fact it's a V6, and because it's AWD.
The downside, as brought up earlier, is the cost involved importing and then making it legal to drive in most of North America.
Thus, I would recommend you look into an Audi if you're looking for what the Skyline has to offer, import/legalisation costs notwithstanding.
The Audi S4 is a hell of a machine, what with it's bi-turbo 2.8L 30v (5 per cyl) DOHC V6 (in '96-01).
Or, if you can find one, you could opt for the RS6; basically an S6 (which is derived from the A6 chassis), with a DOHC 4.2L bi-turbo V8 producing 450 bhp (yes, brake horsepower) which is put to the ground by Audi's legendary Quattro AWD system.
Ok, so there's the Audi salepitch... lol :P
You might want to head to and look for the videos of an RS6 Avant (Audi-speak for wagon) being 'tested' on parts of the Autobahn... ;)
Be warned though, don't blame me if you start giggling like a little school girl because of the goosebumps this car will give you.
First - the guy's in Aus so he don't need to worry bout importing either - they're both on tap. Second - a vette would have to be changed to rhd if it was imported. Third - the skyline is inline 6, not v6. Fourth - the skyline is definitely more popular downunder, so if you want unique, get the z.
Guys, ive been reading all that stuff u wrote...if u are in doubt, just look for something suiting ur needs.....the R-34 is a great car, with lots of potential, and a headturner....However,the price tag is really high, and u also have to import it.....if u really feel like doing all that, then simply go ahead and buy it if u have the available resources....its is surely the one I would buy, since here in Greece there are no skylines.....(i mean NO SKYLINES)....so.....i would probably make the money up by showing up in greek tuning magazines and stuff.....with a 350Z, it would for sure look the bollocks....but.....a skyline is a skyline......
p.s...there is no car in greece right now more than 400hp...so...with a stock skyline with a greddy exhaust and some turbo upgrades i could nail anybody.......but i keep dreaming on.....i just hope that i will become a diplomat and go to japan and buy one from there....and then import it....my father is already a NATO officer...and all these people have tax free cars with special discounts......i can buy a skyline 50% off.....unfortunately my parents would never do sth like that...lol..keep it legal dudes...peace...
Im 16 years old btw.......hope that will make some people reconsider what they were thinking about the newer generations.....my dad already has a 3.2 V6 24Valve Alfa romeo 166 (the 2004 model), a mini cooper S, and an Alfa Romeo 147 GTA.....hope u guys are jealous....total price tag fot all those: 97.000Euros.....thats the discount i was talking about.....ive already ordered an RX-8, pricing at .............16.000 euros.....im getting it next year, so i can drive it when i become 18...lol....fast one for an 18 year-old...just become a diplomat....lol.....peace..

i agree man.....anyway....i said my thing.....i just came up to this forum by mistake...i was looking for a specific veilside bodykit for the 350Z....so...but i guess its fun writing in forums.....lol......anyway....peace....
