tclock2 can do it for you. or 3d color changer. try one of those two.

search at google for a download. tclock2 has a own option for that.

The background is actually just the desktop color.

The text itself is either black or white, whichever gives the best contrast with respect to the desktop color. I didn't know there was a way to change that.

(So if you meant the text color, not a stupid question at all..)
