I got a 15GB one, and its the best thing i've invested in so far=)
Oh, and for your battery problem, you can easily replace it after a year or so, just pay 60 bucks, and open ur ipon (carefully) and replace the battery with the one shipped to you.. without paying the hefty amount of blingage to apple.
I have a 40gig, and it works very well. I use it @ school and it's ideal for roadtrips with parents. Only thing I don't like is the headphones it came with. So I bought some big muff type phones that sounds excellent. I think it was worth the $$$
I prefer my PDA. I borrowed my cousin's 5gig iPod for a few weeks, and while it wasn't particularly bad, I just don't need to have so much storage space. With my PDA, at least I can play around with emus and do "work" or watch videos. Granted, it's only got 256mb of memory, but oh well. And the sound quality blows.
I love my ipod considering i am only 15 300$$ is a big chuck of money out of my money. sound quality is great and sofware is ez to work just that it scratches ez and battery life is kinda short. use it at school and on road trips great item if your willing to pay worth ever penny
I got rid of my 30 gig ipod for the same price i bought it for. i wanted to try the dell dj: my cousin had just bought it and it was too unstable and bulky i ended up getting a used 15 gig ipod for almost $160 with apple care plan for 5 years. i am back with a ipod and i am enjoying it and i did get new head phone they almost costed me the same price as my 15 gig ipod. the sony 700dj headphone and i still have $120 left from the 30 gig ipod i sold.
Now they do sound alot better but battery life is throbbing i am getting a free replacement for a new 15 gig ipod through apple for free. for the next 5 years i will keep on braking mine and switching it for a new one.
I was going to buy a 20 gig ipod off ebay for 205$ But then I got ripped along with 20 other people who bought the ipod. I was just going to get the ipod to play it through the stereo, use itrip and stuff. But I am a man of quality, im not sure if it would have worked out that well. Its just alot of money and now blank cd's and CDRW's are just so cheap. If anything, if you just want like one album, get some of the NV products, super small, plugs into the USB and holds like 250 or something...
doing it expensive (5gb) : iRiver doing it trend-whore (5gb) : iPod doing it cheap (128mb - 256mb) : flash drive doing it smart (70min) : cd doing it old-school (12 hours) : cbd / radio doing it leet' (256mb) : pda doing it free : use someone else's headphones
my brother just got the new 4th gen 40gb one... sound quality and function is awesome.. pretty much compatible with most of the peri. (itrip, hardcases, etc...)
anyways i played with it for a while and it's pretty damn intuitive.. holds a ton of songs, psds, dvd isos and whatever else you can cram into 40 gigs. the 12 hour life span does live up to it's name.
on the kinda "chinsy" side because of 100USD price drop the 20gb only comes with a set of headphones and a connection cable.... the 40gb comes with the docking station, cables, and headphones. the 40gb doesnt come with the hard sleeve case or control attachment (although the new clicking wheel interface kinda eliminates the need for one).
the ipod is a dream (from a minimalist point of view).

haaha i had an ip0d... and unless you are a trendwhore, which much of custo is, youll know the sound quality is whack. returned it a week after getting it.
