I am sure lots of you guys like trance and house tunes... pretty positive. Didn't feel like bringing the dead back to life, so decided to start a new thread!
lol...
Wondering on your guys thoughts of this track
Deepest Blue - Deepest Blue / Give it Away Ultrabeat - Pretty Green Eyes
Trance, Techno, Dance and House in my opinion is slowly dying out. Not saying I dont listen to the genre, I do but its mostly the old stuff like sash!, new order, chemical bros and even prodigys jilted generation. I mean really its the same thing only recycled or I must getting really old...
"Idleness is to be dead at the limbs but alive within"
I don't encourage downloading hash, if you download. You should be ashamed. I actually buy vinyls, maybe cds, but prefer vinyls. I just picked up Deepest Blue - Give it away... amazing track. Trance / Techno / Dance / House ... will never die. It will evolve, like it always has. Yes, you think its dieing out, not really...they are moving on to different sounds, cause yea, it does get to be really recycled. But if ya did your homework on Trance and Techno, you'd find out, that the genre's always been like this, except its not dieing, but evolving.
well, don't it you think it was a good idea that he d/l them and found out he didn't like them instead of wasting his time actually going to a store, buying them & then having to return them?

It's a matter of opinion whether if trance is gonna stick around or not. Disco died, N'stink faded (thank god), the backshit bitches, Prisstina Gagulera, and all these other pop singing sissies are already in my opinion, as dead as a doornail. But this is because they use their clean cut/faggish airbrushed good looks to lure in the little boys and girls, they have no real talent. Pop is a product, and it's whatever that sells. Why is Britney Spears seraching for a edgier sexier image? B/c her once pre-adolescent audience is growing up, and growing out of her shit, and she always has to be one step ahead of them or else she's gonna be yesterday's product. Why has rock been around for as long as it did? And not only didn't it fade away but it branched out and now from it emerges heavy metal, alternative, punk, indie, ska, and more. This is called REAL evolution, when a type of music is not only preserved, but constantly comes up with new sounds and categories to keep the fans interested. Now i have personally never really liked trance, but that is only because i have never understood it. Rock always eminated raw pain and the most primal of human emotions and sufferings for me, and that is how i found it's edge, and grew to love it, because i can relate this type of music to my own life. Trance is more techological, and we can only move forward, not backwards, i don't like it, but i believe that it is the sound of the future, and it is ever moving and ever evolving, and though i don't understand it, and probably never will, i do not believe that it will fade out, i think that it has what it takes to stick around, it'll be the music that my kids are blasting in their room while i'm yelling for them to turn down type of music lol!
it matters what you consider trance... is prefuse 73 trance, hip-hop, or DnB? these types of artists are what evolve music. also, i hate to break it to you, but punk and rock has become a type of pop.
I guess it really depends on what kind of rock we're talking about. I'm not really that crazy about punk to be perfectly honest, i like stained, Static-X deftones, disturbed, and alot of the really heavy stuff. I hate pop with a fiery passion, in fact i'm just not into the popular music scene in general. And no, hip hop and R&B are not trance, they're a totally different kettle of fish.
I think tau said DnB(Drum and Bass) not R&B... but ya.. disco didn't really die either, it just "Faded" or "evolved" into other types of Trance type music..
I do believe Belle_Morte electronica will probably not die in our time, nor will rap type music, or metal. People are just getting more bored of music faster, more peopel are producing than ever before( more people in the world too? ) so we are evolving through music faster than ever. It will never die.
also... just found a good new track, if you can get your hands on it, I strongly suddgest you do that if you liked Deepest Blue - Deepest Blue its even better than Deepest Blue was, its Deepest Blue - Give it Away!
What about someone who appreciates all music? While I absolutely abhor Britney and Christina for their 'generic' pop- pop meant for preteen boycrazy bubblegum chewing brats, there's also pop like Papas Fritas, a more alternative pop flare. Then again, I also like Maxwell (which is considered R&B), but hate Beyonce Knowles and Destiny's Child and most R&B acts.
The fact is that there are subgenres in every genre. Take for example 50, Eminem, and Linkin Park all being considered 'rap' by some.
- Trance has elvoved indeed, especially since the BIG Millennium.. - it's branched out into different types of trance such as Vocal Trance, Uplifting Trance, Progressive Trance, Hardstyle.. there's even collaborations with House, Ambient/Chillout/Downtempo, and Breakbeat/Breaks - and if you listened Ferry Corsten (one of the BIG names in the scene)'s latest album, you'll see a new genre about to take place, Electro Trance. (which is sort of a weird sound to current Trance listeners, but i have a feeling everyone's gonna like this new style). - to me, it's like modern-day Classical (although there're still classical music today), but it's closely related to why people listen to classical.. - and most importantly, it's still underground.. that's why some people think it's dying. if it were to go mainstream who knows what would happen. - what you hear on the mainstream radio is absolutely "cheesey" music which most of us Trance listeners hate. how you can tell it's pop is because of its cheesey (most of the time) female vocals taking on a wanna-be trance sound/ - so maybe there's another new genre for you.. Pop Trance, haha - today, Trance has become a sort of "religion" perhaps.. (according to Armin van Buuren, a "Universal Religion" where everyone in the world can related to) ..or a way of thinking to some.. - doesn't matter what type you're listening to; it's the "feeling" you get when you listen to it.. - it's "emotional" and "beautiful" electronic music at its best..
- if you want to listen to any, check out this site: http://www.di.fm
oh, and there is no such thing as underground pop. the definition of pop is really any band that is known well. i feel that's why trance is still great. its on the verge of pop and underground. its well known enough for there to be record deals, but underground enough to avoid the taint of TRL. i appriciate all types of music but i have a special place in my heart for electronica.
"What about someone who appreciates all music? While I absolutely abhor Britney and Christina for their 'generic' pop- pop meant for preteen boycrazy bubblegum chewing brats, there's also pop like Papas Fritas, a more alternative pop flare."
Music is something universal, it makes the world go round. I respect whatever kind of music that whoever listens to, because every person likes a different sound. However, the only type of pop music that i know of is the sissies that are talentless and ones that i have no ounce of repect for. Maybe ur right, there is more than one type of pop, and i respect that, but i'm anti-pop, and even if i did hear this Papa Fritas or whatever, i'd probably still hate it, but i respect other people's choice to like it, it's just that i don't.
Same with Trance, i don't like it, maybe one or 2 songs but that's about it, but i still respect Roth or Tau or Neo's taste in electronica because everyone's taste in music is different, that's what makes music universal.
I don't know were all you guy's come from but here in Holland the dance scene is really getting a position to stay! We have so many big parties around, you must have heard aboud the leading Dance organisation ID&T. If you haven't you realy gotta check out their website at: www.id-t.com you can also find some nice pictures there ;)
Neo_Drakin: Wondering on your guys thoughts of this track: Deepest Blue - Deepest Blue / Give it Away
its house, btw :) not a fan of the original, sorry.. but the Lee Cabrera remix is just amazing.
Roth: to me, it's like modern-day Classical (although there're still classical music today), but it's closely related to why people listen to classical.. ever listened to classical? trance wouldnt even begin to compare to classical.
lots of music techniques considered essential before during the classical era aren't practiced much in genres like trance. classical has long opuses that have the most eccentric flows that evolve greatly. trance just uses silly arpeggios, with no dynamics, and having a 4-bar hook repeating endlessly as a climax.
the skill that goes into producing trance music is a far cry from the talent that goes into composing, arranging, and playing classical music.
Roth: and if you listened Ferry Corsten (one of the BIG names in the scene)'s latest album, you'll see a new genre about to take place, Electro Trance.
all i can say is 'eeeew.'
Belle_Morte: Why has rock been around for as long as it did? And not only didn't it fade away but it branched out and now from it emerges heavy metal, alternative, punk, indie, ska, and more.
ignoramus. do you even know how HUGE the electronica genre is and how many subgenres it has? how it's subgenres are being started, splitted, combined, and how they are evolving? how drum and bass producers got inspired by ambient and greated atmospheric d&b? how house, through the years, spawned it's own subgenres: progressive house, funk house, deep house, chicago house, garage house, etc?
infact, it's not local to the electronica tree: subgenres are also being influenced by genres outside electronica, like for instance, ragga fusing with jungle- producing 'ragga jungle'; hiphop influencing downtempo- creating 'triphop' (yes, its not just a name, it does have hiphop roots); how world music influence downtempo artists (like for instance nitin sawhney); how jazz is seen in lots of other genres (drum & bass, downtempo, acid jazz, etc).
it's just as evolving and as big as rock is.
xrance: blue is horrible. and yes im a trance addict my collection> yours :). 1real connections.
no need to brag on your connections to the scene, dude. :p
-
btw.. i appreciate almost all sorts of music. pretty much everything from classical, opera, electronic, rock- though i've watched over electronica the most.
enfusion- "do you even know how HUGE the electronica genre is and how many subgenres it has? how it's subgenres are being started, splitted, combined, and how they are evolving?"
I never said that Trance or electronica isn't evolving, in fact, i never even said that rock is evolving more or faster than trance, all i said was 'I don't understand it', 'and i am not the biggest fan of trance'. I don't listen to it as much as u obviously, it's just not my scene, not saying it's bad or anything, it's probably even unbelievably fabulous, it's just that i'm not hooked on it like most people here, and b/c of that, i haven't the time, or interest to study it's root, culture or evolution.
to be honest, i didn't search too hard. just went to a place near me called platinum vinyl and they had a whole stack of them for 400 a piece. it may be different if you don't live in a city or something though.
enfusion indeed, i do listen to some classical such as Vivaldi, Mozart, and Bach.. and i have much respect for it for many reasons.. Trance, the way i see it, is more than just appregios and 4x4 beats;; you just have to find the right stuff, and i guarentee you there'll be some that'll suit you or anybody.. and about that Ferry Corsten album and his new style (Electro Trance), i don't think a lot of us are ready for it yet..
can i suggest you few songs? try listening to: William Orbit - Barber's Adagio for Strings (Ferry Corsten Remix) William Orbit - Ravel's Pavane pour une Infante Defunte (Ferry Corsten Remix) Gouryella - Tenshi (Original Mix) Gouryella - Ligaya (Original Mix)
- let me know what you think of those. - all i'm saying is give Trance a chance.. - peace and much respect!
Belle_Morte: " i like stained, Static-X deftones, disturbed, and alot of the really heavy stuff. I hate pop with a fiery passion, in fact i'm just not into the popular music scene in general."
read what you just said and realize it is so horribly stupid that it should never be said again.
yeah roth, tunes like those are rare. melodies like that are truly one in a million. but hey, did you know these two tunes borrowed melodies from other songs? Tenshi is from "Light and Shadow" (vangelis), and Ligaya was borrowed John Ewbank, who afaik is a dutch composer.
of course, those two Orbit tracks also borrowed melodies from classical pieces.
I'm really a big fan of progressive trance. If you're searching for trance on the world wide web, you'll probably only find some (bad) hardtrance. Just go to a good cdshop and look for Tiesto, Armin van Buuren or Ferry Corsten, all 3 produce awesome (progressive) trance.
All trancefans should own this DVD: Tiesto - In Concert. Reall roxx :D
enfusion: thanks! i knew about Tenshi, but i didn't know that about Ligaya, except that Gouryella (Ferry Corsten) collaborated with a classical composer and John Ewbank may be him.. - if you don't mind, could you see if any of these other tunes were inspired by classical:
Gouryella - Walhalla (Original Mix) Gouryella - Gouryella (Original Mix) System F - Out Of The Blue (Original Mix) Rank 1 - Airwave (Original Mix)
- if you have any trouble finding them, IM me on AIM (SN: RS Trax) and i'll be glad enough to send you samples.. - peace and much respect!
