Help!!! After scaned and repaired the virus with Nortan 2003, all the small and stand alone .exe file damaged!!! Can't do some thing to save all those infected file after repairing?@@
zeotrex : I suggest you get yourself a cd or dvd burner and start RAW burning documents [in *.txt]. Could you please establish which virus has infected your computer, this topic deteriated rapidly after the work jeark ... is your computer infected with the "win32.pinfi virus" as this topic is dedicated to or another, therefore another form of removal will need to be taken to remove the infected files. You probably already know this but I'll give you a major hint I use everyday. Keep all your documents on a private partition, just documents no apps of any kind and as a general rule [there are exceptions] every time you come to difficulties with your computer [via virus or personal misfortune P2P etc.] you can reformat and reinstall the partition windows is installed to without endangering your secure files. Hope this helps.

Yes. It is "win32.pinfi virus" i was talking about. I scaned all my local drive lately and found over 1000++ files infected by this virus and Nortan automatically repaired all the file. Now i found that all the repaired files can not open/run anymore(i mean all the *.exe files i tried). Now i wish to know if there is anything i can do to get those .exe file working again or any suggestiong so that i wont do the same mistake again and damage the files again by repairing them in the future. Thanks.
old but still relevant. zeotrex : easiest way is to A] not download illegal software B] unplug yourself from the internet and keep your computer in a secured compound, or if you're one of these freaks who call themselves 'normal' try to establish where the virus came in from ... downloads, attachments, friends? Apply a virus filter to all incoming messages [don't worry about outgoing, if another user gets it meh ...], try to keep all executables in a seperate partition [just like my document partition speech above]. One question, what damage does the virus actually do? all I can see is it adds PIMF to the registry [thats bounds for a terrorist threat these days ...], can't you just turn off your checker and live with it. In the future make a new post instead of making us relive a topic like this from the old days. Best bet is access has been disallowed to *.exe infected, easiest fix is to start backing up documents onto another hard drive or partition and format the infected area, then start rebuilding. Good luck

I work for an ISP, and we get hit hard when a new virus hits the streets. This monday was horrible. However, I suggest you might check out alternatives to norton. I prefer Nod32.
Damn, this sounds like an advertisement.
When I find something I like, I am always pushing it. I got everybody at work to use Mozilla Firefox.
