a hoy hoy me again, i need your help with something people rate it hate it just give me comments. i advanced to the state compition and now i have to actually follow "rules" which means i need to have text and an objective. i can't decide what i wanna use so im trying different combinations of old renders. you will see that in both of these i use shards, but remember shards aren't played out in the real world like they are here, at least i don't think so. here are two links, the first one, yeah well it came second and perhaps i listen to too much system of a down.
both of these are like 1280 by 2000 in one way or another but i scaled down one of them. also my firs ones in 300 dpi much slower save times :o( oh well. please give me tips maybe even suggesting i redo diferent designs of mine. im open. i have a few weeks too.
Yes, they are probably going to be anal with the whole "objective" idea. What exactly is your objective going to be? I did something similar for FBLA back in highschool and objective was like the most important thing. Once you figured that out, don't forget it! As far as the art goes, the first one seems to be the most organized. The colors are all compatable, you have a theme, and it just plain looks good. The other one is lacking a theme and structure. The colors are different and there is no evident scheme. Anyway, please post those, and good luck man!
yah well the first link i origianly had the text as industrial opposition and the shard is and abstract factory and the blue flame is blue flame and the night sky is polluted and hazy.
like fate said, the objective is probably gonna be really important from this point on, and I think it's gonna be hard to attach a meaningful objective to 3d shards...if you're dead set on them though the second one looks alot better. Seriously though something can look really nice but I think what they're looking for is communication. So try and think about the message you want to convey and work with that.
/hates people that dont use compression PROPERLY =) Anyway SirWonkus, nice job and good luck:)
Hope you dont mind if I use this as a personal wallpaper :-P
because im just crazy like that. =)
: Nothing's better than takin a dump and checkin out some uber hardware...well...hacking into microsoft while dropping off the Cosby's might be better :
Personally, I think you should either, use the first one, or add some more to the second one. I think you need to make some sort of explanation as to why you have these two sweet 3d renders opposing one another... if you do that, you'll get more of a "theme" feel, or objective as you said before...
Just my opinion.

eh, anyways i have made some different versions. sticking with the industrial theme. one opposition and one cooperation although both negative. i need help on intergrating text on the cooperation and thinking of text on the opposition.
the cooperation one is really nice. the renders turned out the best on those IMO. a bit of red in there would be nice in some part to draw some attention...maybe in the type. i think the type needs to be a bit stronger font...and no fade on it. maybe copy the type onto a new layer, bring it down a bit, and set the opacity lower. that sometimes give a good effect. i dunno. good luck with it whatever you do :o]
go with the first one but get rid of the Italics, eliminate the inner shadow (too much white and black within the text, keep it a solid color) and use more contrast with your text instead of just making it all the same size streching across the center. Some tweaking, and it'll be more solid for sure.
