Heh, I had this whole long thing written out with some advice to Static5 about how he should be quiet for the next 5 or 6 years untill he realizes what a dork he was at this age and how, given his abilities with and grasp of contemporary graphic design, he really shouldn't have an ego at all and whatnot, but I'm not gonna post it. It's almost a guarantee he won't listen and will reply with some sorta "fuck you asshole, I'm cooler than all of you" business that's laughable at best and mearly proves the point I was trying to make. Not gonna waste time.

Either way, it's at least reasuring that kids like him either grow out of their weird little "self important" phaze when they get older or turn into bitter used car dealers and don't affect our lives in the least. =)

Static5: it has a lot to do with the way you carry on. It's not like everyone just woke up one day and decided not to like you, it took something to get to that point. That something is the wierd arrogance and egotistical attitude that frankly none of us understand. It'd be bad enough if you were actually hot shit and acted that way but to be somewhere in the middle/bottom area of talent in the world of design (don't sweat it, it's not that you're not good at stuff, it's just that there's a lot of people way better than you.. not an insult at all, just a fact) and to act that way really rubs people funny I think. I've often observed you bragging about "doing this for a living" and "being a professional graphic designer" and whatnot. Thing is it's nothing to brag about dude. A lot of us have been doing this professionaly for YEARS. There are literally hundreds of thousands of people in the United States alone that do this very thing for a living and have been for decades, you very rarely see them walkin' around like some kinda peacock. You work for a TINY firm by the name of flameboyant (yes my man, you guys are very very small... not a bad thing, just a thing.. there's a shitload of firms out there that pull in a billion+ dollars a year) and you seem to wear you're employment badge like it's some sorta goddamn medal. I think the thing you've gotta start realizing is that there really are a million people out there doin' it 1000x better than you'll ever be able to. No matter how long you do it and no matter how good you think you are at something like this there's always that many people who make you look like a joke (this is something everyone needs to realize btw, not just yer silly ass). The better you understand that fact the more humbled you become and better a person you'll be. I think you'll find that when you decide to drop the goofy childish attitude people will like you a whole lot more... trully.

I think the only reason I haven't leaped out of a window yet is stupidity. I usually chalk up my distaste for the idea of suicide to a love for life but I really think it might be because I'm stupid as hell. I mean I've got some things goin' for me (not a bad lookin' kid.. 'bout normal I'd say, cool gf and all, etc..) but for christ's sake not a day goes by I don't fuck up like 50 important things. It's a miracle I still remember to breathe properly. I think today I can count at least 30 things I said to people I shouldn't have (everything from foul ass language when inappropriate to farting near someone's desk.. well.. I guess farting isn't actually talking unless.. nevermind). I missed 4 "appointments" today I should have gone to. I spent a bunch of money I don't have on shit I don't need (I do that everyday). I was wearing two pairs of boxer shorts all day without knowing it (I just thought mah undies were crooked). My girlfriend was nekid a couple of hours ago and I actually asked her if she wanted to go grab a bite to eat (ladies, if that ain't a mood killer I don't know what is) and now she's goin' to sleep without my ass. I spilled Sunny Delight all over the carpet and tried to clean it up with old shirts. I forgot to return my videos which are 2 weeks late to the store, again. I laughed and blew snot on my food at dinner. I almost burned my office to the ground by leavin' a lit cigarette on the desk next to some papers while I went to the kitchen. I could go on forever...

Static5: to be honest man the kind of attitude you're showing right now makes a WHOLE lot more sense and shows maturity. When you act like this I can talk to you any day of the week. I'm sure you know there's pretty much a solid division in the skinning community (and a lot of other communities, online and off), the retards and everyone else. The retards often vary in artistic ability. Some are actually decent artists, others couldn't operate an etch-a-sketch properly, but they all have one thing in common... shitty pride. They showcase their work and ideas as if they're doing the world a favor and if anyone presents any sort of opposition they attack. Whether or not the opposition is justified makes no difference, they attack anyways.. it's that pride thing.. they can't seem to shake it. As much as one would like to ignore the retards it gets pretty difficult. They involve themselves in these drawn out flame wars that are just about as dorky as the day is long...

The people who aren't retarded are usually, but not always, better artists and don't subscribe to the whole foolish pride thing. They do what they do without the aid of public opinion... it just makes no difference to them. I've learned over the years that the cat who's usually better at a given skill than anyone else in the room is the one who doesn't say he is. It's a lot like the old saying in high school, those who talk about gettin' laid are probably the ones who've never even seen a girl naked, those who don't bother to talk about it all the time are prolly the ones gettin' some nightly... I mean here's a quick example of a retard versus a regular cat:

"Look guys, I'm proud of my new site.. as minimal as it seems it actually took a lot of hard work to get it together and it's something I want other people to see. If yah dig it, cool.. if yah don't, cool.. but I think we've all got better things to do with our day than attack eachother for something as trivial as a new site making the news at deviantart.
