OK. So now we've lost 2 American symbols and economical landmarks and had damage dealt to one of our top classified information facilities. Now what? Half the things in this world just shut down? I'm hearing of so many things being closed.. between websites and businesses that are not even directly tied-in financially or in general to anywhere that was damaged in New York or elsewhere. Yes we should take a moment of silence for the victims but are we supposed to remain frozen in yesterdays moment for years to come? I can't even visit some of my fave gfx design sites (one being endeffect.com ::"i will keep endeffect.com in silence until things have settled down completely and i am personally ready to reopen it again"-pre:: isnt that somewhat selfish?) my life isnt going to come crashing to a halt and what i do daily isnt going to change. theres nothing i can directly do to affect the outcome of anything that can or will happen in days to come so im not going to complain to other people about it but i am going to complain about those people that are.! well this post may seem harsh but its not like i dont have feelings for the unfortunate many involved. i care, but once again, time is not just going to freeze for me personally... please tell me im not the only one that feels this way, and if i am then i dont know, i am me.

btw pre, i have nothing against you at all, i think youre a cool person in general, i just dont like that reasoning on that one specific event and subject, please try to understand me without anger
It'll pass over as soon as it is no longer front page news. New things to come are the commemoration of those that died and the unlikely response by the US.
you ppl missed the point. when i tried to log onto Custo yesterday and received the 'silence' screen, it gave me chills. you couldn't go to your fav graphics site for oNe DaY and you're bent? do you have any idea what went on over there? can you even imagine? what if both your parents died... or your girlfriend, or your brother... or ALL of them? you couldn't even give them any repect for even few hours? man, you ARE insensitive.
and as far as saying this is going to blow over, as soon as it's not front page news... don't hold your breath, craeonics... this isn't going away for a long time.
i have a feeling both of you are too young to value human life, and the empathy it takes to even try to understand the pain of thousands of people.
i agree with what cooper said. and to call it selfish for somebody to close their own PERSONAL site for PERSONAL reasons is ludicrus. pre has endeffect to share his PERSONAL works with anybody that wants to view it. no where are you in that picture to make calls on what the site should look like, if the site should include feature X, or even if the site is up and running. it is pre's site, and he can make any decision he wants. i applaud pre for pausing activity at endeffect.
Having a one day or even week long blackout of a website does not constitute "allowing terrorist to change your way of life".
Showing respect reflection and mourning for those lost is only human and civilized.
We cannot let this change our lives. However disrespecting the targedy and lives lost by "moving on like nothing has happened" or just ignoring it is just plain callous and inhumane.

(DM): On the hill ahead you see a gazebo (Player): Is it moving? (DM): No. (Player): How big is it? (DM): About 20 feet tall. (Player): I draw my sword and kill the evil gazebo!
Exactly, I dont want to act as if it didnt happen, but I'm not going to let it permeate my very existience. Hell, I didnt know where my friend who works in NY was, but he turned up fine. I'm not going to live my life in fear because of those morons trying to become butt-buddies with Allah. I'm going live on, acknowledging the event, but not let it prevent me from flying, going into tall buildings or being around them. However, I will respect the fact that a shitload of people were forever silenced by a senseless act.
i of course believe we need to return to our everyday things... normalcy. but i mean, come on, the guy was complaning a few sites he visits was down for a day out of repect for thousands who died.
i do think some people are over reacting about it, like shutting down web sites and stuff...i mean it's pathetic that we're letting some terrorists get to us...to stop our daily routines, etc. maybe the terrorists did win against us.
i was not complaining about a few gfx websites being shutdown, i was complaining about alot of things being shut down as in business structures and such, and then i used ONE gfx site as an EXAMPLE only because i am posting the message on the forum of a GFX SITE. as for telling me not to take your post with anger cooper, how should i take it when you tell me i am bent? you dont know me, i am not senseless or without remorse, but just what on earth would you expect shutting down my store would do for a day because many people died all in one place? im sorry i have no nationalist pride. many HUMAN BEINGS die all over the world EVERY DAY but the clockwork of existence keeps moving. get over yourself, your mourning is not going to fix the problem, and if you are one of the people who have extreme pride for your country you're probably just thinking "lets blow the enemy up!" yeah... like that really gets anything done...
oh btw i do have pride in this country in another sense only because it is fair and has kept me safe and the laws and all that work out, im not going to go into great detail on that but when i say i have no national pride its meant as i dont go saying, "you hurt MY country so now i hurt YOUR country because im a racist idiot" kind of thing but then again we cant show weakness... somehow it needs to be handled with intelligence and without causing massive casualties.
neuroscious, please make up your mind "im sorry i have no nationalist pride."
Then in the next breath "oh btw i do have pride in this country in another sense..."
Seeking out those responsible and ensuring that they are accountable for the bloodshed they've caused is certainly not racist. What does race have to do with this? It wouldn't matter if Osama bin Laden was a white guy from Tallahassee he will pay for his crimes with his life. And no that won't solve the worlds ills, but it willensure that he doesn't lead others to repeat this sort of killing spree again. This is his third or fourth melee, he was already on the FBI's 10 most wanted list for the bombing and resulting deaths of US servicemen.
WTF is wrong with you???? The biggest attack against the US yet is not gonna affect your life??? YEAH RIGHT. Like Pearl Harbor didn't change the world forever. 2 nuclear bombs were dropped last time something that could even be compared to what happened here. Can you not comprehend that? Most can't comprehend the loss of life. Imagine this... Someone killing you- times 40,000. Okay? Now get this. There will be a war. And if there isnt (%.00001 chance) the next attack will be a nuclear bomb in the middle of NYC. Comprehending yet? Yes. This should give you nightmares. This is a real danger. These people involved will do anything to completely destroy the U.S. Of course life is gonna change. Don't BS me about a war on terrorism is impsossible and a world with out terrorism is impossible. It is not. 30 years ago, terrorism din't exist. That 30 year reign of terror will end as will the Talaban govn't. Are you comprehending this yet? I hope so. If not, you are a waste of life.
Well neuroscious, I believe you are sadly mistaken and wrong in your views. If you think this is just going to "blow over" anytime soon, you are wrong. Like it or not, this event (unless eclipsed something more terrible) will be on the minds of Americans (and most of Western civilization) for quite sometime. The most recent news just about guarantees the start of a long war. So you might as well accept the fact and get used to it.
Boo hoo hoo. I can't go to a few gfx sites. So what if 5000 people are killed? I don't know them.
When you hear about a fire many miles away, you tend to look at it in an abstract form. It's much different to come home and find your own house burning down.
Because of the enormous influence of the United States, we are all affected more than when something terrible happens in the rest of the world.
such ignorant babies. obviously none of you have been desensitized to the realities of the world and only know of the terror that happens in your own back yard. far worse things happen to people in 3rd world countries on a daily basis and this, an attack on our VERY ARROGANT country (proven so by you the citizens that have been replying) makes you all stop and worry about people. i didnt see anybody taking times of silence day after day for all the poor people who get their heads/limbs severed just for having different views than that of their tyrannical self imposed leaders. blowing up in a building is probably a swift way to die compared to the ongoing tortures ocurring to people in other parts of this world.
oh and feverish you fool, i so comprehend whats gone on more than you know and 40k people dying is NOT going to give ME nightmares but if you would like to recount yours go right on ahead. i also never stated a war on terrorism is impossible and i also never stated a world without terroism is impossible. i think you better read things much more clearly before you go make a stupid response out of anger like such.
oh and ad0nai, you rea my posts and i believe i claerly explained very well what kind of pride i have so if you cant understand it too damn bad, dont pick it apart and turn it into something for yourself to understand that is completely distorted by my meaning of it.
anyway by now we've all heard bush's ultimatum and its fairly obvious there WILL be war. i doubt any armed terrorist groups are just going to give themselves up like that after all the time theyve devoted to their cause. and, if this isnt done intelligently and the terrorists rally worldwide, we could have well over another 40k deaths to deal with. people die in war. we are not invincible, we are not immortal, so when things like this happen in the world dont get so snippy towards people who knew something like this would happen and it doesnt hit them as a big surprise/shock.
I shut down my site last week because as a person i possiably could not write anything worth reading for my web site. These trajedys have effected me in a really big way, I think people that run a private/personal web site can have the write to turn it off for awhile...
neuroscious: i agree with you worse things happen to people around the world, but that does not make this situation any better.. what im saying is, just because there might be worse things, they dont alter the magnitude of this attack
