I am really not amused about your advertisments, I've been surfing around on your site for about 10 minutes today and now i got over ten files called »WeatherInstMain.exe« on my desktop. Why am I getting files which i didn’t ask for? What shall I do with that d**n .exe-file? I’m on a mac. I hope you’ll stop this annyoing shit. Thanx.

advertisments are a necessary evil for 90% of web sites do to the fact that they are FREE. Gotta support the cost of the server and bandwith some how. Now, instead of being a moron, you should try a positivit approach and think "what can I do to stop the pop-ups on my end". Then, like a good little boy, you go to and type in pop-up blocker. Then you download it, burn it to a CD, and go install it on a real computer and not your stupid Mac.
hash > omg, start thinking before you write, you say that advertisments are necesary and then you tell me to download a popup-blocker? idiot. and now to make it clear: i have nothing against advertisment, i have nothing against popups, i have nothing against flashing animations, but i do not like the idea of files being downloaded without being asked.
custo does have a LOT of popups... like on every screen it loads. I dont know shit about banners and all of that but its almost like some sort of lame ass warez site (no offence :p) when it comes to add popups. Especially the gator/weathersomething ones are irritating.
You get prompted to accept that exe every time it pops up. So you HAD to have accepted it, and also checked "Always Trust this source" to get it everytime. Take a basic internet course and then complain about it.
customize needs to generate revenue in some form for bigger and better things to come. if not, when those bigger and better things are in certain points of development, and when we reach in our pocket, if nothing is there the bigger and better thing won't come.
in your internet options theres a section in the security tab thats restricted sites, u can add gator.com in there and sites along that line to block thier little download thing
I don't really care about pop up and adds, I understand the reason why they are here, I even click in one of them form time to time. But sometimes I get the same popup 3 times when entering to the site and that is annoing and bad for advertising, cause you anly make the costumer angry, and then he/she will close every windows without even look at it.
Dear Phillie, I would like to first say that I am very happy to see that you managed to not understand my very simple response to you above. Its nice to know that there are still a good supply of idiots waiting to hop onto the information super highway and make everyone else just a little dumber in the process. Thank you.
what is the future of the internet with so many people getting ad blockers? i mean if sites arent making money off of popups what will happen to all the large sites who dont sell anything (such as custo)?
this is a prime example of why people should think before they type.. wish custo didn't have ignorant people like phillie. ah well every community has em....
Pop-ups? Ads? the only thing I see is that little ad above the Featured bit. I got Kazaalite and have hardly had any ads since (modified HOSTS file), the only reason I noticed this site had pop-ups is because I saw someone post something similar once before.

My question is does custo get $ from just the pop-ups appearing or is it on a per click basis? If it's per click you'd think there'd be admins encouraging a click or two occasionally rather then pop-up stoppers.
encourage them for what? so you can turn around and say you dont have to.. or that we are begging? and no where in this thread do you see an admin recommending such an application..
The fact is that websites aren't free to run. Customize costs money to run and that money has to come from somewhere.
The options for a website are limited. They could start charging people money to subscribe which would probably be objected to by a lot more people than a few pop-up banners.
No one likes pop-up ads, I'm sure the admins aren't terribly fond of them either. But unless someone has a better idea I'm not sure what you expect. Perhaps they could have a subscription fee of just a few bucks that would remove the pop-ups. I.e. like $5 or something.
dude if a subscription fee was applied the member count here would fall dramatically. Believe me.. even 5$ would amount to a huge decrease in custo members.
Anyway is there any chance of getting that saddam advertisement back? I liked shooting that dude in the head :)
