Blah after long deliberation i have decided to make the move to xp pro... again but anyways i was wondering if i formated my hard drive installed win98se then upgraded would i need to resetup anything besides the soho networkinterfacecard drivers. and if thats it should i just be able to plug modem in and it will work or do i need to call roadrunner and tell them that i need to reactivate my service or ... help would be apprciated :/
You shouldn't have to reactivate your service, but then again I've never used roadrunner. All you should have to do is enter your IP, Gateway, and DNS when you reburn. Sometimes you dont even need to do that. As long as you still have that info you're all set though.
don't upgrade. it is highly recommended that you do a fresh install copy of windows xp. and yea, those boys above me are right about the cable service.
rkenshin is definitely right about doing a fresh install copy of windows xp. i had originally upgraded to XP from 98se and my cable modem ended up not working. dont ask me the reasons for it. tech support from comcast said that a number of their customers had experienced the same problem when upgrading. it worked fine after i did a clean install though.
