I have downloaded a .rar file the was a theme and I was able to unzip with winzip but unable to find the file or anything once I ran the .exe. Any help would be great I am new to this site and would like to get the most from it.
I've had the same problems with .exe but I ran the UXTheme Multi-Patcher and now it won't let me change any themes at all and I'm stuck on the windows classic theme, I can't even alter those colors because a .dll fails
You need to give more information. First unzipping files is the easiest thing to do. You need to have a program like winzip, winrar or 7 zip. Then you download the zip and right click on it and choose extract here or a location where you want the files to be. Now where are you downloading the theme files from and what type of exe files are they? Please provide a link so I can check out the file myself. There are several options for applying themes and if you use a patcher http://customize.org/groups/topic/14365 then there is no need to run an exe file. You simply put the theme files in the proper file locations found in your windows directory. You really should read about how to apply themes if you do not know how to do it. The answers are found everywhere and a little research is all it takes. The method I choose to use is the easiest way to change the look of your system. I prefer to use a program called windowblinds. It comes with the Object Desktop suite of theme utilities or you can purchase it separately. Once windowsblinds is installed you have access to hundreds of cool themes that will work with any version of windows. You open the windowblinds 7 configuration utility and select a theme that came with the program or one that you have downloaded. You can even change colors, transparency and textures of the themes. Usually people that do not use windowblinds 7 are those who cannot afford it but it is not that expensive and you can try it free for 30 days.
