File managers (explorer) XP

I can't stand the folder list in windows explorer everytime it pops up when I run it from litestep. But if I run it from other sources in litestep (like the my computer link) the icons and style change. it annoys the hell out of me.

I just want to customize explorer. I can't seem to res-hack it though. Is there any alternative? (I've also tried other file managers which suck by the way)

how can I know if I can trust that? Can you try explaining a little more on what to do? Some people are not expert customizers you know. Please? :>

Sorrie. Still doesn't work. I mean why isn't the icon theme applied when I run My Computer?

you've got it all backwards. other file managers are great, and explorer sucks. try Directory Opus. it's fully customizable, and you can skin 95% of it.

*Popup "My Computer" !execute [EXPLORER.EXE /n,::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}]

^ use that to open My Computer from your Litestep popup with out the tree pane. If the icons change it might be because you changed them with something like IconPackager, you'll need reshacking when using Litestep, in fact it's better overall.

Whoa.

Alright thanks naalo... so how do I change the icons (easily) without using IconPackager without having to do it one by one...?

Hmm sorry you don't, allthough it doesn't take much time to reshack shell32.dll for example, which contains most of the system icons.

use IconTweaker. it just adds reg keys to change your icons. you can watch what it does with RegFromApp by NirSoft, and learn to do it without using an app at all. pretty easy stuff.

I don't why, but my Litestep setup works with IconPackager

but not with IconTweaker, I think the most Iconchanging programs don't work

a very simple method to change your icons in the dll files are install a transformation pack like Flyakite, replace the icons in the installation folder and force an update
