The best method is to extract the jar somewhere. Then edit the files needed and when your done drag them into the jar again in the right location.

He's basically saying that you:
1) extract the .jar file somewhere (but keep the original)
2) mess with the files on your filesystem (not inside the .jar)
3) move the edited files back into the unedited .jar.

Or I hope that's what he's saying, else I kind oflook like a moron.

Hope this helps.

Did you change the theme's (and not Firefox's) UUID in the install.rdf file? Did you make sure to change the file paths of contents.rdf (if you actually added folder names)? Also, did you create the .zip file by selecting the files and creating the archive (which is auto-wrong), or did you archive the folder containing the contents, rather than the contents themselves (which is auto-right)?

This should work:

1. Open up classic.jar (best to start with the original)
2. Extract it to a folder named classic in the same dir (can be anywhere, but i prefer this)
3. Close classic.jar
4. Edit the files you want to edit
5. Make sure Thunderbird is closed and open up classic.jar again and browse to the same folder in it as the folder in classic where you edited the file(s)
6. Drag those files into the jar file and close it
7. Open up Thunderbird again, it should be changed

It works!...thank you naalo, i think the problem was that i archieved the classic folder to .jar and then replaced it with the original classic.jar.

thank you,
