screenshot contest 2008. people are excited about it, and the trees are starting to get nips of green - in georgia, anyways.
so let's hear everyone's thoughts. when would you guys like to do it? somewhere around four to six weeks from now would be good i think; is there a particular date you guys would prefer? end it on a sunday maybe, and start the submissions two days prior?
the retro/classic and modern thing was cool, but obviously didn't get nearly an even number of submissions in both categories. would you guys like different categories again? what would they be? would you rather just keep it open?
voting system? i personally think the that last year's worked well, with two points per love, and one point per like.
prizes? the custo shirt is badass, maybe lamplighter would be up for doing that again, if he still has extras around. if not, i'd personally be willing to donate $5 or $10 towards a fun prize, as i'd hope some other people would.
I'm thinking all subs are collected in one pool, but we have some sub categories. This way we can have a best overall, but at the same time let people who specialize in different things use their talents. For example, we'll have linux, BB, litestep, explorer, mac, wall and screenshot, as some sub categories.
Put me down for $20 in the donation category and I'll feature the winners at http://nuancegroup.org as well.
When? I am really interested in this. I think SSC08 submissions should come in over a 2 day period (friday-saturday), and the results should come out on the Sunday or Monday.
Friday and Saturday are when I am mostly free to browse custo - I am sure this is the case with most people.
Categories In terms of categories - I think we should have modern/minimal and usable/classic. That way the Blackboxers can submit into the usable/classic category. This would be easier than having 4 or 5 different categories based on your OS/Shell.
Voting For me the last year voting system is completlely fine.
Prizes In terms of prizes either money or a t-shirt would be cool. I thought that a good price may be a computer application which normally costs. Or we could give a gift voucher for some online shop...etsy?
