Okay, so maybe this is some kind of sequel to the ancestry thread :P Anyway, what's your town like? It can be your hometown, or the one you're living in, whichever you want.
I live in Nashua, New Hampshire, second biggest city in the state, with about 90,000 people. There's not much to do here for a city that size... I live in an apartment complex right next to a big commercial district, and I have a feeling that 20 years from now, in the location of where I'm sitting, there will be a mall. Stores are everywhere here, for the convenience of neighboring towns to leech off of us. Like all the other cities near mine, they were built upon the textile industry, but that all went south in between the world wars. Our downtown is kinda nice... ish. West of the downtown there's a ghetto-ish place, which is a couple blocks from my school. The southwest part of town is being quickly built up from a farm-and-forest past to suburban neighborhoods with houses that look like clones. The people are somewhat nice here, it depends on the section of town. We were voted the "Best place to live in America" in 1987 and 1997, but now we are far from that. Probably because of all the new crap being built. Not as much construction as Hong Kong or Dubai, though :D
It is home to Western Michigan University, better known as 'Wastern'. The downtown part of the city is expanding slowly, & there are a shit ton of high schools in K-zoo as well as the neighboring towns.
I live in Elverum which is a small town in Hedmark county in Norway. We were the second town in Norway to get a railway, this is because we have a lot of timber which was very important back in the days. During WW2 we were the capital of Norway for 1 day :P
Today my town have almost 20.000 citizens. My town is the fastest growing town in Hedmark county. We have two malls with almost everything you need and don't need. My town is also a great place to go cross-country skiing in the winter.
It's a pretty good place to live. The girls are nice ;)
i live in seattle. it is the city in western washington. or something like that. *shrug* the mayor is a tard so there's a ton of condos going in everywhere. give it a few years and you'll be able to get a million dollar condo for a quarter that.
the town i grew up is having a mass delusion of grandeur that it is a city. it grew a bunch in the 80s and 90s, but it's been "growing" at too fast of a rate the past 10 years. overdevelopment ftw.
Islamabad, Pakistan. my town is better than yours thats all I've got to say. :D extreme weather. cheap/good food. All the shops you need always close by. Lots of homeless/cute doggies and catties roaming around the food places. Late night street racing. God, I love this place. [is city and town the same thing? :) ] wait I think I live in a city. o who cares.
I live in a city called Leicester, situated in the middle of England. It is one of the biggest cities in England, and the people live a busy lifestyle. Leicester is full of attraction such as the National Space Centre and also the new shopping mall which is being constructed.
There are plenty of primary and secondary schools as well as two universities. Leicester University and and De Montfort University.
The De Montfort University, is quite well known for design and most design geeks in Leicester go there.
I live in a college town, so to speak. Statesboro, Georgia - Home of the Georgia Southern Eagles.
Eh - it's not bad. It's small but it's growing. Maybe 20K during the school year, about 5K during winter break etc.
Claims to fame? The Allman Brothers Band. General Sherman pretty much ended his march to the sea here, after burning it to the ground. Georgia Southern is the oldest and Largest school south of the Georgia fall line
That's all, and it's not that impressive I admit. But I like it.
