Yep yep. It was a rushed community project that yielded no results as we all sort of expected.
What can a skinning site do for global warning awareness? Though if you remember Imrik never suggested taking up an "issue" that was brought on later. By Dustkt I think.
I think a helpful thing would've been following Egolatra's suggestion of each one of including one of our favorite earth friendly tips with the skin and such.
From the very start it didn't look promising. It doesn't even suffice for me in design aspects. Very dissapointed. The people who worked on it (the so called legends) should be ashamed of themselves.

if i knew your mother, i'd tell her to smack the taste out of your filthy mouth.
All I can say in regards to this topic is that it was a good project and did bring the community together. I think that there should be other projects like that in the near future (Perhaps a suite for the autumn?). It doesn't really need a message (just a theme). It should just be something for the community to showcase its talents. But we can wait on that for a bit I think.
@Nunch: I was just saying that to keep you happy. And even if I did mean it then, looking at it now, it looks rubbish to me. What happened to the message?
Demeaning other people's hard work when you've never done anything yourself worth note is incredibly disrespectful. I can't figure out if you're a troll or just incredibly dense.
I think that the project was a great idea and it shows that this community is capable of doing things as group, it was a baby step and I think it was great one. Everyone who took the time to contribute should be proud.
Hopefully the next project includes all the major groups, skinners and artists.
@Thinker: There wouldn't be that much time for an autumn suite (by the time it comes out there would probably only be a short while before autumn ends), but maybe a winter suite?
I agree plain-doh, that would work out better. However, I only said autumn because it isn't technically here yet. But yeah, winter would be a better idea. And to colossus72, I completely agree.
gaia was a great thing. The main message was "the community here cares for our future". Any contribution to support that idea is precious. Respect to all artists involved!
Nevertheless it´s a pity it didn´t ´spark´ more, but that´s just a sign of our fast times now...

Either make something better or kindly SHUT THE FUCK UP Actually, do that anyway, because no one likes you, and everyone wants you gone. You're basically custo's Hitler.
I think GAIA has been a great success and as others have said, everyone who contributed should be very proud.
plain-doh, I will take the blame for not putting on the finishing touches. It was unfortunate timing that Imrik, then me, have been away, but that doesn't mean we still can't and shouldn't finish it properly.
Right now we need to finish gaia.customize.org by putting in all the subs, and some interviews and information about global warming. When I met with Steve this past week we talked about different ways to present this type of information, and I think we can use the GAIA page as a prototype for some of the things to come on Custo in the next couple of months.
Then we can call it "complete", and spread the word outside of the customization community to sites like digg and treehugger. If I am missing anything please let me know :)
Everyone was making scandal about you earlier and I frankly didnt care, but after seeing that rude remark, I think you need to get lost.
You dont add anything to the community, why do you feel you can go and say crap like that? I bet you would never act like that in real life, because you know you'd get the shit pounded out of you
And no, you can't have all the components of my screenshot, you didn't EVEN say please
Well said people, as a community project even though it was kinda rushed I think it was still a great thing to do. Getting the community all riled up and working together was fantastic.
I mean just take a look in Shoutbox to see how riled up everyone was getting in anticipation over it. For that, it did it's job very well. And this could become a yearly thing for Custo.
I think to have traditions like that is good for the community to keep it more family like. Like keeping the Custo Cork going as well, heck maybe having bigger Custo Cons even.
Anywoo. Thinker said it well, GAIA worked well as a theme for it, the issue of it all was just a nice plus -- even if it didn't work out to well.
i really liked gaia, and i dont see why everyone thinks its dead? :D its like any other suite that has been done and someday a new customizer will find it and make a mod! okay i can see that the "green ideas" behind the project was not too succesful but as a theme it was great... any way i liked it and it may be that ill do more vs mods from it :D...
and i think its cool that ur already starting to plan a new suite... :D sounds cool.. thomax? what di u mean with "Custo cork"? a new suite?
Dude.. I'm so not any good with being creative, it's most likely because I'm too lazy.. You guys are awesome at it. If I even tried it be a waste of my time.
What is that supposed to mean? My understanding is that his comments are about his disappointment in a suite (which I was too). Your comment is misplaced unless this is your attempt at furthering The Hasbara Project.
On topic, The VS is really what I didn't like and I would have liked to see a huge wallpaper pack for something like this seeing as there are so many great images that could be used to further the cause.
I think Pyro is right about it being rushed. I think that banners that we could use as signatures in other forums that could link people to a more informative site(rather than that little blurb on the side) would be useful. Just a thought
This really is just constructive criticism and not intended to offend the makers because I commend anyone who takes time out of THEIR life to share something with others
@Zey: I didn't see this comment, ShellWM isn't like Litestep, LS replaces your shell i.e. Explorer (taskbar) ShellWM skins your windows. It's more similar to a VS, except it only skins the outer parts of the windows.
@TP: The VS for me was a tad bulky, but aMADme's and Novoo's I like, and would hope to port to ShellWM so they can be used on Vista and machines older than XP.
Also: There was a huge wallpaper pack ... did you somehow miss the flood of wallpapers from Imrik and some others?
All right! Great that this whole discussion is saved.
So what are your suggestions for this years release? What about really having an issue about global warming? Really go into it and write some articles and connect the outcome with the suite. My goal was to sensitize people and think about how often they REALLY need to turn on their pc. So what about some interviews and articles. I would be surely up for that!

Sounds good. Maybe even expand that to include cutting power consumption in general. I know you guys in Germany are starting to use more and more solar now, but back here in the US electricity still runs on coal, which = CO2 and Acid Rain >:(
If the topic were to be reducing power consumption, the skins and stuff could be made to use less memory, thus reducing the computer's power consumption(?) I don't know how effective that would be, but just throwing it out there
