Email client help needed
|
I was considering moving from web based Gmail over to a proper client like Thunderbird. That said however I don't really see the benifit of that. Gmail notifier tells me when mail arrives which Thunderbird cannot do (at least not without using thrice the memory).
Is the transition really worth it or should I just stick with Gmail notifier?

I use npopuk to fetch my gmail. It's a tiny notifier/client. Haven't ran into a situation where I need more than it offers to date.

Your Gmail notifier works? I tried that crap out, and now I have to open and reopen the Gmail tab to get it to load correctly.
I haven't used a real client in many years though.

Frankie. You can use either a Litestep popmail checker or Samurize to check if new mail has arrived and you can even set these notifiers to open your mail client directly by clicking on them.

Thanks Pep. I should really get used to searching "litestep" in front of whatever my goal is. LOL ;D

Ok. Back to this again.
I actually tried and failed to use AcidMail, a Litestep POP email checker. Litestep crashes randomly with runtime errors.
Is there anyone knowledgeable on this topic that could help me figure this out?

Why not use Thunderbird? I never care for aesthetics, so I haven't done this, but it's pretty easy to customize it if you so desire. I personally use it with pgp and enigmail.

I'm going for the Samurize look. Eg. "2 new emails" etc

There's also:

I've heard it works, I've been to lazy to sit down and try it out though.
