Submitting pictures of breasts to customize isn't customizing at all. This ain't deviantart.

I think if we had a pictures section then people would be able to post there photography and pictures to customize in that category instead of flooding it all into the wallpapers category.

It may help us in the quality control area that way. Also , we then don't have to sift through hundreds of DeviantArt pages to find good photography to be used in our screenshots. Customize would not only then be known for it's skins and themes, but even for it's photography submissions.

There are many great customizers here that could really expand that category.

Well, I changed my mind, not because of the group-think mentality but because I don't want this place to be like DeviantArt. Even if you put all sorts of restrictions in place (which is the only way that I would agree with a "picture" category), it would simply not do anything about regulating quality. And I thought about it for a while longer after I said that I agree. I only see that categorization making things worse in the quality control department.

But yes, I do agree with some kind of restriction (though I have no ideas as to what that should be for the moment).

@egolatra: Maybe if you put a photography category. Also we should have a ban on anyone submitting uselss stuff like kittens to the Photography section. Only allow buildings, interiors, objects etc....

All others will be deleted and the user banned.

Or you could just not have a picture category altogether and not have to worry about censoring anyone. The moment a furry pic makes it to the popular additions I'm leaving.

or they could make a stock photo section and regulate it to strictly stock type photos - ie: no pets or photos of people and their friends, etc - and have it not show at all in the popular additions. plus they could add a feature to it where users could notify if the photos aren't stock.

but yeah, no general photography section would be good. we already get enough "hai guise! this is my gurl!" type stuff in walls and some of the other sections...

If people want to submit photos/images they should create/customize it into something of use (a wallpaper for example) and include the original photo/image (within a zip or as additional version) for others to customize if they so choose.

Fenris, that's not a such a bad idea. Would custo suffer however? Maybe custo could make use of flickr or something. Make custo users knowledgeable of it. Maintained by custo users... or something.

How does having a pictures section help make this the best desktop customizing website on the internet? It doesn't.

If anything it waters it down and detracts from the mission of the site.

There's TONS of sites you can sub and share your photos to. There's very few sites that have the focus custo has, and most people like it because of that.

So yep, go to Devart, Flickr, etc.

I agree with colossus. It would water the site down. That would be a shame.

Flickr is a good resource and seems to load stuff fast (faster than Da anyway). Does anybody know if a Flickr account can be shared publicly?

I think all the other stock photo sites are sufficient enough for people to get photos and make them into wallpapers. I cannot stress enough that this is customize.org not deviantart.com ya know?

Quite frankly we really don't need one. And I agree, it would water down the website. If people want good photography, that's fine, we have wallpaper makers here that somehow turn a great photo into a full wallpaper. And that's what other people can do with their photos.
