yeah thats pretty cool. Could probably make something like it in LS... given enough time! :D
but I think the Text should always be upright. like whne the seconds gets to 30 or so it should "flip" the text so we can read it without craning our necks.
I'm betting of all the programs we got, LS, Samurize, or Rainmeter quite possibly could do that. I agree with the flipping thing. And also you probably could do that with an active desktop. I've seen some crazy stuff done with those. Even flash stuff.
jeeze, that's been on digg for like an hour now... get with the times.
active desktop?
I have an idea of how to do it in Rainmeter, but it's not worth it to write new code change the colour for every second. I'm not sure about how efficient it would be, either.
it's definitely not possible w/ samurize, since rotating text isn't allowed. i've always thought it should be implemented though, i'd have a ton of uses for it
in Rainmeter it won´t be a problem at all if you are willing to create a bitmap for every second, minute, hour, etc ... same with Konfab or SystemMeter.

Those roundlines won't change the colour. I know you could have sixty (EDIT: actually like 200) but it's such a waste of resources. Images also allow you to do the edges more smoothly.
The only problem I was thinking about was the smooth movement (it moves to the next second faster than a second and the way it reverts back to 0 is a big part of the clock).
~13 kb per image(png-format with transparency) 200 images per ring 200 images is ~2600 kb 6 rings with 200 images each is about 15600 kb (~15,3 mb) total. + config files etc. worth it? I would say HELL YES! ^^
Well it really something beautiful, but still using a single image for each frame... damn there's a lot of work a head for that lucky someone!
Collaboration maybe? Put together a team that could make graphics and one for the config.ini work properly and it wont take more then a... few days to make I think... instead of a single person working a little when he/she feels like it taking a month or two.
PFFT. I don't think it's THAT cool. I like my non-waste-of-resources text clock much better. ;)
But I've seen worse skins, so I'm sure there's a good amount of people who would think it's worth it. However I don't do Rainmeter skins, Moshi is the resident skinner of it -- but who would he collab with?
@Dustkt: I'm not entirely sure.. but I could have sworn I'd seen it done. I saw a flash dock once that they said could be used on their desktop. Plus I thought I saw other examples..
@AKH, well yeah it's all that time. AND the largeness of the skin file that sucks.
You can get a screensaver <a href=http://blog.pixelbreaker.com/flash/polar-clock-v2/"> here[/a].
The 200 image estimate is the total number of images, so it's not bad. I say again, the problem is the animation when we get to 60, but if you just want a bar that changes colour, it's not difficult. 13kb is also pretty large even if you would want it at the size of the original?
I don't think it's that brilliant a clock either, but it's an interesting "what if?". In the end (for Rainmeter, at least), I think you just end up making too many comprimises.
"Haha. As I said I'm good with my clock. I think AKH wants it the most though. =P"
haha, nah. I like a challange though but I think its.. uhm a bit to much.... PLUS my computer is very much dead right now... I'm gonna build a whole new one... ^^
