shell32.dll turns to default?

jzatt says:

I have a problem with my shell32.dll...
I reshack it to change my icons, then use replacer to change it. It works fine for about 1 day, and everything looks great... but then it turns back to the old default dull icons!
Same thing happens when I use the uxpatcher. Works for a short time, then stops working :(

How can I fix this problem? I guess it has something to do with file protection, if so how can I turn it off?

heh, actually i have a similar problem with replacer/switcher and reshacker. I'd change whatever, save it, but next time i fire up reshacker, everything's back to normal.
I don't know why though, although it's very frustrating, because many a dll are off limits for me now.

Pep, did you try switcher? I had problems with marlett + replacer.

jzatt + Nunch, maybe system restore is on?

damzk I got system resotre on and no probs with replacer

iirc the only thing it does is set the restore points so you can revert to a previous day if something gets fucked

...for automatic updates check the services in computer management right click on my computer/manage
