I've created a skin which is basically a "tab" on the left of the screen, showing some shortcuts ( 3 or 7 items) features : -Themeable : icons and background ( ini editing) -roll over on the text -smooth animation
I took a quick look into the .ini file, looks like the CPU usage has dropped down when I change the Update value from AnimSpd=30 to AnimSpd=60. Might not be it at all, I'll look more into it later when I have more time.
I haven't noticed any problems, but I'd definitely try a dark text, rather than just a shadow, maybe also a darker arrow. Personally, I'd find it more logical to open it, run a program and go back to close it (ie, arrow on left side).
jER, just as an fyi, you can also upload your unfinished skin and screenshot right here on Custo. When you go to upload a file, just check the "Work in progress" box on the form. Then the skin will have its own page where people can comment, which you might find useful.
@mailmerge : I could use a font to draw the arrow, whose color could been changed by editing a variable int the ini file..I'll do that

BTW : I've made a "dock-like" and right version of this tab, facing small problems...Nothing huge. My goal is, in fact, to create a litestep theme using rainmeter as a module ( because of the number possibilities of widgets, but the process is quite different ), a picture is better than a long speech, something like this
