ok, so were having problems on custo. yes, its public. theres a shitload of things to do, and simply nobody here to do it. For example on the admin thingy i am currently the only fucking admin doing any work here, and i havent got an update on how the coding with the rest of the site is going. On top of that my computer is fried again and needs some serious intricate electronics work, which means i cant work here much, and dammit, ive been using too much time on here while at school.
So, we've taken measures of appointing a new admin or two. Within the next few days we will see who gets the job, at least making custo more effective here, cause i myself dont have time, and theres 127 submissions piled up, over 100 of them screenies.
now for the death case here. No, customize.org is not dead, its very much a very alive site. There is a bunch of idiots here, and theres always been. But i fully agree, customize has lost its "former glory" thats simply cause of the comptetition and features. Compare custo to dmod, custo isnt even coded completely, and dmod being the most advanced uber-coded php nuke ever seen. Custo just doesnt pull the good people anymore, custo has just become a "source" for the artists that normally hang out on other sites. Its sad really, as custo is one of the oldest site around with all the old mods intact and all that.
on a third note, there are 127 unrated submissions, and too many of them are screenies. I am deleting all the screenies, cause frankly, theyre pretty damn useless. Please do something more productive.

customize.org remains on my favorites list regardless of the transition of "power". I look forward to meeting the new crew..whomever they turn out to be...are they already amongst us? well, doesn't matter what i think, just keep the site ALIVE!....psf
ok, note it wont be no big staff change, its only that miriku has stepped down his admin activity to like, sooprcows level, leaving me the only rater. We're only bringing in one or two more kids for the staff, no completely new crew.

Unfortunatly there are up and down times for most submission based websites. It's bound to happen. I for one, don't have a problem quietly checking for updates every now and then (and not crying that the sky is falling). As a community we need to remember that our focus is on enhancing the UI. Things will pick back up. Let's all remain positive and bring some new stuff to the table whenever we can.
I'll keep visiting custo, too bad you deleted my screenshot though. Maybe it should be possible to have an extra section with screenshots that don't appear in the main custo thing window. People like showing off their screens, and it's a good way to get some nice wallpapers, icons and skins as well..
i still hold custo as one of my favourite site, although most of you know i've been very active lately at dmod. and it is a very slick site. custo just needs a gorman, is all. :)
and maybe all the screenies don't need rating; just file them. ppl will look if they wanna. i don't think i've rated a screenie in so long, anyway.
screenshots are just to overrate yourself.. iv decided to stop posting the damn things because they are a waste of time for myself and everyone else.. im going to just continu working hard on my b- suite.. ^_^ .. (f--king i can't skin or do anything..) .. this site is doing fine.. the boards are hugely active ... sure the code'n may suck *in some situations*.. but what can we do? nothing... thats the coder's job to fix up.. so il just wait it out untill that lazy boy/girl gets to work and have all of us just keep submiting walls/skins and posting on the board
As a real post though, I'm glad to see someone on the inside taking the time to let everyone know what is going on. It is very clear that the site has been having problems, and I want nothing more than to see Custo live on and do well. Custo already died one horrible death back with CM, we can not let that happen again. This site has suffered way too much, and that needs to change. That said, thank you for your work, and I hope to see things get turned around.
I primarily use custo. da and dm i rarely ever use. I think this site has a harder rating system than the others thats why i still give custo an A+ 99% (no one is perfect)

keep it up, custo is still my #1 must-check-websites. I'd love to help, but I'm more of a burden than a helping hand. (I don't even know any codes at all)
thanks for the support from everyone. we have a great community here, which has always been the most important aspect of this site. the community has always been the focal point, and its us, collectively, who will help custo flourish. all we need is some more organization among the admins and some more coding (although i would like to point out the code that is here is very good, it just needs to be complete). while we sort things out, just keep on submitting skins and good wps (but maybe ease of the screenies :), forum posts, and news articles.. we'll pull through this little period of non-growth before you know it :)
Winky here, will be happy to do some admining and some serious coding to help out the site, will be able to get the manage uploads option up using some smart coding so that it doesnt bog up the site much or at all, will only help to improve things, just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents.
I know that i too haven't been around to much, i apologize for it, my life has been changing a lot in the recent past, and i'm rearranging how my life is prioritized. Since about two years ago, it had always been miriku and i and a few of us that have been around custo watching and waiting for things to come back to how they were. Unfortunately it appears that that vigilence has lapsed, and will have to stay that way for a while yet. My feelings on the site certainly haven't changed, and i fully intend to keep aware of whats going on, and ways to improve the site, however i'm not going to be as active.
So what does custo need?
People to help the custo crew out! Who have you seen around custo that you think would be people you trust with your submissions? This is a community site, thats where all of us in the customize.org staff came from. (and don't just nominate yourself) Post suggestions, and why you think that person is trustworthy.
Custo's rooted in a functional community, lets keep it that way.
That said, my haitus from the site will be a productive one, i hope to come back to the site as a more useful resource for the site and the community (i suppose thats what college is about, bettering yourself and all that rot). And so i shall embark on my quest. Feel free to contact me on aim or email me if you have questions or want to get in contact with site staff, etc., while i won't be actively present, never hesitate to contact the staff, we will be as prompt as possible in responding.

Arz: well yeah, the point was again, suggestions. The admins will probably end up discussing the matter, but i know i (and i think i speak for most of us when i say this) would definitely like input on what the community thinks.
and are they paid vacations at that??? (Boy this skinz.org site skin is really good, cept something is missing on the left I think, feels alittle lopsided)

Get real. i don't want to get into a flame war about this. Things change, lives change, situations change. I'm glad to hear that you think life is easy enough to call it 'vacationing' ^_^
we have elected a new admin. we are very confident that the new admin will do good work on the site, and we have fixed some minor stuff around so this will be all more cleaner.
We may appoint one or two more, depending on the situation. Who is this new admin? well, thatll be announced in the news on the frontpage.

i've got a year + coding experience, you can nominate me. i mean you all know how active i am *cough* if not just reveal how you made the modrewrite engine work >:| its been bothering me for weeks on how to get the slick /forum/1213/ and whatnot >:O
I would be an admin, though I'd only want rate walls, ls themes, and winamp skins, cause I don't feel I know enough about other junk. Custo is almost always on my PC throughout the day.....
No one I think is in my tree, I mean it must be high or low.

I'm in the Quixx society of rating stuff when I feel like it. Screenies don't do much, they show if you can throw stuff around and take a picture. The closer the stuff looks the same, the better score you get..
