yeah so I have pest trap.. if you do not know what that is.. its a program that loads itself on your computer (I do not click on popups) and tells you that you have viruses, pay $19.99 and it will "remove" them... every 10 seconds it pops up a little window that says you're infected, it reloads itself since it's installed all over the place.
anyway I've been through regedit, used ad-aware and sophosis, and it just keeps reloading itself every time I get on the internet... So question.. how can I get it off? or.. there's really nothing on my computer, since I just reloaded windows not that long ago, is it worth it to try or just blow windows away and start again?

I use Avast! anti virus program, it's free, it's effective, it updates automatically, and there are no anoying popups. It goes by annual subscriptions, it'll remind you that your subcription is almost up after a year and all you have to do is go to their website and update your email address and you're all set. I used to use Norton Anti Virus and it sucked. And for pop up blocker I installed the google toolbar, works like a charm.
As for getting rid of the popups, you can just remove the program altogether. Just go to control panel and click on add or remove programs and select the one that you want removed. That should do the trick.
try the AOL anti-virus is a free Kaspersky (just AOL branded)... very nice stuff and it was ranked 2nd in the best antivirus solutions check the top list here: http://www.virus.gr/english/fullxml/default.asp?id=82
btw i use kaspersky since 2003 and i have no problems.
If you don't have anything important on your pc, just reformat. It will ensure that there are no traces of the virus left and would pretty much gaurantee that it is gone. Or, you could open the run box and type "msconfig" and click the last tab marked "Startup." then look for the name of the app and un-check it then restart windows and it won't load. Then you can try to remove it while it is not running which can make it easier. The virus you speak sounds a lot like SpyQuake, which I recently removed successfully. If you find that it is this virus, send me a pvt. msg. and I can send you the tools necessary to remove it. you can also post on the bleepingcomputer.com forums in the virus/malware section for more help.
I just used avast... I would recommend it for a one use only. I installed it, and the boot time scan was awesome, but it is a memory hog after you are running windows.
