Change defualt XP icons

there are some tango patcher... it is pretty cool.

yeah, iconphile is what i use to change my icons on xp.

i've noticed that sometimes when you switch visual styles, some of the icons revert back to the orginals, but you can easily change them.

@openwound: but Iphile can't change some icons in XP's start menu right? ( the icons next to "All Programs" , "Settings" , "Log off *user name*" , "Shutdown" )

I'm waiting for the next Icon Phile release if there will ever be one.. to get this fixed; let me know if you know what i'm talking about and if you're experiencing the same problems as me.

Rob78901, those are not icons in the start menu. They are bitmaps in the visualstyle themselves.

You can easily edit them out by opening the MSStyles file in Reshacker or RedEdit.

are they really in the style themselves? i always thought the start menu icons were bitmaps in shell32.dll (or some other system file).

Yup, they are in the MSStyle file. If you look in you will find the log out and shutdown buttons in the start menu as well as the green arrow (luna) for "All programs". They're all Windows OS/2 Bitmaps or are Portable Network Graphics.
