if they dont fuck up the whole hand-movement system, wii will dominate in sales. even tho its specs are only slightly better than xbox 1, people will buy them just for the new gaming experience; i know i am.
i'm a huge nintendo fanboy, but i have to agree with thiefness. when i kick back and play a console, i just wanna layback in me couch and play. not wave my arms and stuff around. hopefully some of the games provide an alternative controller scheme. so far i'm only interested in the new zelda anyways.
not from what i've seen mr.a nobody. they seem to be selling 130,000 -200,000+ per week when the psp doesn't even make it to 50,000 per week... i think i read somewhere that they've sold 20 million DS handhelds.. that might be a global number though.. i think it was on ign.
the only reason DS is selling more is because it has the kids market riding on it's ass. So don't even get into fights over sales, cuz it means nothing.
Just to give you a little update, Sony's stocks dropped 3% today due to the announcement of PS3's 'inevitable' shortages. I'd also like to say that it'll drop once more after consumers decide that HD-DVD is the winner of the 'next-gen' media war.
Why? Shortage of consoles = crying kids + lack of sales.
'Why would anyone want to buy a PS3?' - To keep their Betamax and Minidisc players company in the attic.

If market shares dont matter then I guess popularity of the system doenst matter. If thats the case then what criteria decides which system is better? because if none of that matters the best system in the world has to be the Atari Jaguar.... cause it had the most buttons!
funny. If your going to look at sales to decide which product is better then thats sad. I was commenting on how they started talking about the sales per week of the ds and psp and they were "deciding" that one of them was better than the other just because one had stronger sales. Which lead to my comment on how the majority of ds owners are kids and thats what drives their sales and not that the ds is better than the psp because it has better sales.

i feel that the Wii is the only system that deserves my money this time around, only because they actually tried to create a new experience, not just stuff as much transistors per square inch like their competitors. The Wii is not trying to be "kiddy" as some misinformed ignorant people have claimed on this forum, but rather they are trying to appeal more to non-gamers. I find it kind of sad because i love the franchises of the PS/PS2 more, but because of the overpricing i am going to have to return to nintendo this time around (my last system being the best of all time - the SNES)

I've only played the Wii, and I wasn't too convinced before I played it. I tried it out, though to humor a friend, and I have to say... they really have something there. To me a great analogy is the difference between using a mouse or a graphics tablet. Pressing buttons just doesn't have the same feel as the natural motion. Aside from the motion sensing, I think that the party-game mentality and bult in emulators that work out of the box are an amazing addition. Although a technically inferior machine, as a whole package, it has real potential.
I think the Wii's success is laregely up to the developers. These games require new approaches, and fresh thinking from their inception, and just sticking motion sensing into existing games will not work. EA has joined Nintendo full force, and now has an entire studio dedicated to developing Wii specific games.
I'm excited to see what Nintendo has in store for the future.
As for the other systems, I can't comment, because I haven't played them. I'm sure they have great graphics, but I haven't heard of anything quite as innovative as what Nintendo is doing...

and with that let me add i HAVE played all three systems...for a reasonable time too (the guy in the room across from me has all three systems...and a ton of other stuff come to think of it....)
i ask all of you to reserve judgment until you try them out for yourselves but my opinion is that all three of them have strong and weak points, and it all comes down to a matter of taste (but honestly the Wii is the most fun, and i don't really see the value in the PS3)
ultimately i really hope you completely ignore what i say and buy whatever suits your tastes though.
