what font is this ?

It's a variant of ITC Avant Garde Bold, I think. The band Boards of Canada uses in some of their promo materials, I think the only thing really changed is the "A", with the slant.

honestly, I cannot remember that site, i was looking for that font to make a fanboy BOC wallpaper.

finished the wallpaper but left off the font.

It is not a variant, it is avant-garde, in its original design, avant-garde had a lot of alt characters like A cap on the right and on the left as well as the normal one, remember these letraset sheets 20 years ago? :)

most people here cannot remember letraset sheets, because they are yet 20 years old themselves.

i got some letraset sheets a couple of months back, and i have to admit they were the most fun i'd had in ages. in a geeky typographical kind of way.

hmm.. i have about 27 different versions of avant garde and i can't find that boards of canada "a" on the character map x:
