Glad you see that cthu1hu, others like to have a custo where flame wars pop up, and where they can poke fun of other members but we want to cater to the good people of the community. Thanks for understanding.
It is what it is, really. Subs need to be assigned an order somehow and the easiest way to do this is give some guy a special box and let him enter his personal opinion.
I have never had a problem with the ranking. :) Anyways it is the comments that actually mean more. Unless, there was to be a custo-contest. That is the only time the rankings would mean a tad bit more.
From some of the public's point of view.. YES from the admin's point of view.. NO. It's nothing personal, we do what we can based on the looks of an item, If the looks entice us then we may test it out further (if possible) to give a more detailed comment.
To go further I would say up to 80% of the ratings are based on someone looking at an item, case in point
It's a mere screenshot of of my new phone theme but who other than myself and others with a windows smartphone can test out my work? But they can still rate the quality of it based on looks.
I wasn't really complaining. I do understand that only so much can realistically be done, and we can't ask for the world. That doesn't mean it's any more fair to the creator, but, at the same time, we can understand why things are done the way they are.
I have faith that the mods will take that in to consideration when they rank such platforms.
Things need to be in an order of some kind, arranged. generally the better subs DO have better ranks. This makes it somewhat easier to sort by quality, if you want to sort by quality.
don't really understand how someone can someone elses set up on usability since the guy thats ranking it isn't using it ...
as i said before i dont care much for rankings and never made a deal out of not getting a high rank ,i do frown my eyebrows sommetimes at stuff that gets a 90+ ranking and i'm sure i'm not the only one

I doubt that any mortal could. This is how it works, maybe it changes with the long-waited evo, but till that we must suck it up... and i say we, because i got shitty ranks too lots of time and i was upset too. And yes, the comments are the best indicator (http://www.customize.org/polls/573), but we must rank the submissions otherwise the people wich visit custo won't see em (in case of wallpapers) in the frontpage.
What if you have a rank below 65? There are almost 6000 screenshots and 65 in rank means that you are between the first 1500... but hey! You are not a NUMBER.
I shouldn't say EVO is never going to happen, but its something that was suppose over a year ago or more and I don't expect it anytime in the next year either.
c72 thats right, about making searchable database easier .. but i can easily find the coolest screenshot with admin rank 40 and user rank 90 .. and when i search, it searches for the admin ranks.. and honestly.. when i see the screenshots ranked 100 by admins, they suck .
yeah, syretrip, but I dont know if you've noticed the date on some of those posts with rankings that high? as time progressed the bar keeps getting set higher and higher by innovative artists, but at that time, those were cool and therefore got higher ratings. based on the way custo rankings go, we'd be having ranks in the 200s by now if we continued at that pace. its all about the fresh ideas
