Why do so many ppl use litestep...i really don't enjoy it that much...i know it's different and stuf but it's so much difficult...(that's one) and beasides that... it f***s up my computer... i had to format the hard 2 times bcos of some"cool" themes... Maybe i'm not doing the right thing...but i still don't enjoy it...
.... so why rant about it here.. you don't like it then just leave it alone. This sounds more like a I don't like how other people are able to use LS and make such kick ass themes while I can't even install one. When most people don't enjoy something they leave it alone... what did you think that your statement would have accomplished? It's not like teh GM's would remove that section, or the world would suddenly agree with you and stop using it?
I think the best part is when he found Litestep so hard that he had to reinstall his OS. BUT, instead of leaving it alone at that point, he does it a second time.
(Btw, I've never once seen a theme wipeout someone's computer where they had to format.)
or if you play aroudn with it too much you can freeze your computer with conflicting code n such. I remember the first time I fkuced it up so bad that nothing would respond except free download manager. so I went in there and accessed explorer from there and had to fix the crap up lol

Remember using win95 and installing LS baldy, rebooted, comes up with a message box saying "windows cant find explorer.exe, please reinstall windows" :o hahahahaha!
its totally disorientating being stuck with noshell for the first time, but after you figure out there is the taskmanager, its all good.
Why'd you format you HD twice because of couple bad themes? thats like, destroying your house because the decor was mouldy, then building another house, then destroying that one because you cant figure out how to use a paint brush...
If you haven't done so already, try using the installer package available for download on litestep.net. Litestep may be a bit more work, but it pays off with a lot more room to tinker and customize it to your taste, as well as some pretty sweet themes.

u probably hated it cos you werent used to it. I was the same with LS the first time, i gave it a second shot a few months later and OMG i love it now. Infact i was the same with miranda over a year or 2 ago, and come to think of it foobar as well... o wait photoshop too, videoLAN and the list goes on.
Just at all the people yelling at him about this not being a blog.. I don't think that was the purpose he intended. I think he was just asking why so many people use litestep, and just the personal opinions of the users here about litestep. I don't think that's so out of place in these forums... Just how I saw it.
anypne who really uses litestep uses it for it customizing ability .. you can have it transform into anything you please .. in end you have full controll ver your desktop .. this is why people use it
Upss...I did it again! :))) I have decided again to install and use Litstep...everything's oki untill i want to change that horrible horrible theme named "Simplicity"!!! I install the new theme and when i apply for it...Nothing!!! Everything dissapears and the screen is blank! i can ony see the wallpaper (horrible again I say!!!) Lucky me i have winamp in the startup menu and it was allready opened...pheww So... you all Litestep users and lovers! HELP! What is wrong?? why isn't the theme applying? Please please explain (like to a blonde) how the hack do i fix this? In case you all wonder i use Litestep 2.7.2 I'm here...waiting... specially to all above :D
There's no menu...nothing...anykind of click... i can only do alt+ctrl+del. and the themes i have tried are exeed, Lacrimosa and others but i have del them...
Check the task manager for litestep.exe? If it's not and when you start it it closes, open up the themeselect.rc with notepad in your theme directory, and change the theme directory it loads from.
No such thing as Litestep 2.7.2. There's a Litestep installer with that version number, but you wouldn't want to use it, since there's a 3.0.2 installer.
Which installer did you use? What new theme did you replace Simplicity with?
More importantly, what do you mean by Litestep 2.7.2? The newest version of Litestep is 0.24.7, and the latest installer by Omar is at 3.0.2. If you're using outdated builds, I suggest you try newer ones.
Simplicity was the default theme for a really old installer. You should be moaning about "Austerity" wich is the latest installers default theme ;)
In short: Use the latest installer! Most themes will run sweet with that, as OTS2 was released with the 3.0.2 installer, and thats what most new themes use ;)
maybe you need a guide http://ls-themes.org/howto.html the installer is corrupt in the link at the beginning of that guide so use http://lsinstaller.loose-screws.com/ that has an updated build to 0.24.7 RC1, just do the installer and use that "howto" as a guide.. it might help.
its always the same.... why is the first step if something isnt working always to post it in any forum?! there are always tutorials, howtos, wiki-pages and if there are docs RTFM!!! and i would say working with google is general knowledge... so use it
and because of the thread-title: i used litestep some years ago and i also got rid of it after some days, because i couldnt understand how that all works... but i gave it a try 1 or 2 months ago and now i love it! i have so much fun making themes and creating features no one has seen yet... ok, you should have experience with coding, but IMO the language is really simple.
advent i was only recommending the guide and that installer. the guide says what to get after installation the latest build. so therefore i think it was a fine recommendation. nice guide THC4K way to take the time to help.
:)) i have bothered you guys for so long and now i have decided to install and use fly a kite OSX... Which is nice by the way...but will probably get bored of...no themes except the apple one...:( will try also litestep... Thx anyway :)
