Taskbar/systry not showing up

I'm running Windows XP service pack 2.

A few days ago I restarted my computer for the first time in a week. Upon rebooting my wallpaper was gone and a screen came up saying restore active desktop settings so i clicked it. Then to my surprise the taskbar was gone. Here's a screenshot of what it looks like http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/9279/desk4xk.jpg

I tried opening up taskmanager then ending the process of explorer.exe then re-running explorer.exe this causes the taskbar to momentarily appear then it disappears...I have no idea what is causing this does anyone have any possible solutions to this problem. Thanks

Or trying to expand or move the taskbar by dragging it while LOCK THE TASKBAR is unchecked.

When I apply classic style nothing at all happens, it stays blank. I'm not able to expand or move the tasbar by dragging becasue when i try to drag it nothing happens and when I try to right click to see if the taskbar is locked nothing happens.

Probably this won't help at all but... That has happened to me too a few times. The only difference was that instead of clicking to restore, i rebooted my pc from the boot button directly. Worked as a charm, then i re-apllied all visuals and icons (whatever) and everything went back to normal. You probably tried that already but anyways...lol

btw, nice chick on the wall haha

So your saying you just turned the computer off by holding the power button? is that correct?

Nop. My computer has two buttons, power on and direct reboot (below the power one) and voilá, problem solved.

you're using that dock thing at the bottom, in the options of that prog you can disable the tasbar/systray etc. you probably check that box?
