i really like this too. we haven't seen you use textures much (if not at all) up until your last release, and i'm loving the added texture. very nice. you work like a tank!
OK, the problem started halfway the picture loaded =) First, why is a man and not a woman? Second, why is he (who could've actually been a "she") is standing with the back at the viewers... and last of all...why isn't she naked? oooh well... that's what I would change... + different colors for some users...make a pack... Keep the good work!
I like it.. it's not a woman because it wasn't until MUCH later that women were allowed into the chinese army. Also, chinese propaganda DOES allow women, but usually it's a man from shoulders up in a chinese army unifom facing the sun rising while a woman is BEHIND him in a slightly smaller aspect to suggest lacking of importance also to give a feeling of 3d.. but yeah... I'm chinese :p and I love this. GREAT title too :D
I am not an authority on communist propaganda, but I've seen enough and been through enough communist countries (China, Vietnam, Cambodia) to have a fair idea. I also live with a woman who has lived in China, has a degree in Asian studies and has about 13 million books on modern China laying around the house. When I pointed out Raver's post to her, she said:
"Utter bullshit."
So, here's my take, with her help. Women in communist regimes are usually portrayed as being very, very important to the revolution. This has also been the case in Chinese propaganda. Women are shown to be strong, intelligent and important. They are shown in many ways to be the backbone of the society.
No. He said chinese women were not allowed into the army until later. He got that right.
Then he makes his wildly inaccurate generalization regarding all chinese propaganda.
"Also, chinese propaganda DOES allow women, but usually it's a man from shoulders up in a chinese army unifom facing the sun rising while a woman is BEHIND him in a slightly smaller aspect to suggest lacking of importance also to give a feeling of 3d.."
That looks to me like he saying that chinese propaganda only allows women to displayed as inferior, lower beings as compared to the male. It gives the impression that women are allowed in Chinese propaganda, BUT JUST BARELY. No?
Even if he was relating it to "military" propaganda, he's still full of it, as usually there's no clear line between military propaganda and 'normal" propaganda in a communist society anyway. The military is an easy symbol to use to represent the strength of the state and the state is everyone. People in uniform are the norm in most communist propaganda.
It just burns my toast when someone presents themselves as an authority when they obviously are not. Like I said, I'm not an authority by any means, but I know enough to see he's not either.
you know u can use a butterknife to uh scrap that burnt part fo te toast away jk ( i like to make funnies). But i respect what your saying though, But i just kow people still consider men more powerful, because I hear it from men and owmen themselves it goes past what i think. but no more im off topic.
well, you're not completely off base, Asain culture in general is pretty sexist, but communist propaganda is used to display an idealized society, where no one person's contributuion is less than anothers. The ditch digger is shown as important to the people as a doctor. Every role is vital but not more so than any other role.
