As I'm sure many of you have already seen, Google debuted new themes for its personalized Google homepage last week. Right now, there are only six themes available and they can only be applied to the homepage. None of the themes are particularly fascinating -- the only mildly interesting feature is that the scene dynamically changes with the time of day.
I do find it interesting, though, that the largest Internet company, famous for its plain layout, has now entered the skinning world. I think this is definitely a step in the right direction, and it will be fun to see how far they take this feature. How long will it be before users can submit themes?
It will be interesting to see where this goes as skinning becomes more main stream. You can check out the new themes here if you haven't done so yet.
well, I saw them this morn'... It wasn't anything spectacular, but fun nonetheless. And now? There gone, I cant find the styles button, and the style I set this morning is gone? hmmm... Maybe it is just me and my stupid computer, or was Google testing it for a possible future release?
KingCam, I wasn't able to find them at first either. First you have to be logged in and then I had to click "Make it your own" (I don't use Google as my start page so I've never customized it). Once I did that, the "Select Theme" link appeared.
