what's important is that, do what you like and what makes you happy, and not to do it to appease the masses. personally i like an ultra clean desktop. no quick launch icons,no clutter. just a clean and functional desktop. i have seen your shots and they are very impressive. your definitely on the right track. i'm sure you will get alot of responses on different techniques but in the end......do it for your own edification. great post by the way.
